Chapter Fourteen

"What? Where? When? Where are you?" I asked all at once.

"At the same hospital we brought dad." He told me.

"Okay am on my way." I said hanging up and grabbing my purse, leaving the room.

"Hey! Wait, where are you going?" Chris asked pulling my hand as I was about to take the stairs. I totally forgot he was beside me.

"My mom had an accident." I said with shaky voice. I don't even know why I want to cry.

"What? Wait, let me get my keys and get you a jacket."

"No, Chris you don't have to go with me. Your parents need you here." I said trying to make him stay and enjoy the party. Don't get me wrong I want him to go with me but, it might ruined his good night.

"My parents can understand, and you need me also. Wait I'll be right back." He ran back in his room and in no time he was back again.

"Where were you two? We've been looking for you guys. Don't tell me you started practicing for your honeymoon when the wedding is nowhere around the corner." Luke joked when we met them downstairs, but from the look on our faces he knew something was wrong. As he saw Chris gave me the jacket he became serious. "Where are you guys going?"

"We're going to the hospital Luke. My mom just had an accident." I said walking to the door.

"Wait, we're coming." Ann said running outside before I could.
refused. She know me so well.

Thirty minutes later, we were at he hospital. I jumped out of the car before anybody else could and ran inside. I saw Jonathan sitting in the waiting area, with his face in his hands and Miss. Simpson rubbing his back in a comforting gesture.

"Jo." He immediately lifted his head and my eyes met his red puffy ones.

"How is she? What happened?" I asked him wanting to know it all.

"She's still in the emergency room. The doctor haven't come out yet. They've taken so long." He told me not answering anyone of my questions in particular.

"I wanna know what happened Jo."

"After she left Walker's Wooden," which was my dad's furniture corporation, "she called and told me she was going to the mall to get something, and the next thing I knew the police was at our house to tell us that mom car was hit by a truck." He said with tears in his eyes which he tried to hold back. "I don't wanna lose her Liz." This time his tears came so much, till I couldn't bear it. I held him in a very passionate hug as he buried his face in my shoulder.

"I know Jo, I know. I don't too." I don't know what made me say that but I meant it.

"What happened?" I heard Lydia voice as she came running toward us. I hugged her tightly.

"What are you doing here?" I asked her, knowing she should be at her grandma's with Bob, who is also right behind her.

"Tracy called me, and we came as fast as we could. How is she doing now?" She asked worriedly. I have the best friends in the world. They are all here with me. I can't ask for more.

"We don't know yet. But they been in there for quite awhile now." Right in that moment, an elderly man in a doctor uniform came to us.

"Is this Mrs. Babara Walker family? He asked politely.

"I-I'm her daughter and this is her son." I said pointing to Jo.

"Can I speak to you for a moment please?" He asked softly. Too softly for my liking.

"It's okay. What ever you have to say you can say it to all of us."

"Okay ma'am. The surgery was successful." I let out a breath that I've been holding since the moment Jonathan called me. Chris held both my shoulders with his hands supporting me, because he knew what I was thinking. I knew there was a but coming.
