They Say Love Hides Behind Every Corner. I Must Be Walking in Circles
Chapter 8
Westley threw another punch, and it nearly hit me. Luckily, I turned out to be more flexible than I had thought. I bended backwards to dodge it, and it actually worked.
“Dude,” Forrest said, and I think I detected anger in his voice. “You nearly hit her.”
“Shay, you need to get out of the way,” Westley told me.
“You guys need to stop this!” I shouted.
Maddie, Jasmine and Ceci had rushed over to see what all of the fuss was about. I was just glad Damien wasn’t home. I didn’t want to explain this to him, or anyone for that matter. I ran towards my friends, giving up on stopping the fight. “Guys, take cover!” I whispered frantically as Forrest threw another punch, again, landing right on Westley’s nose. “They’ve gone crazy!”
Maddie’s eyes widened and she hid in the coat closet in my living room. Jasmine and Ceci followed suit, leaving me stranded. I groaned and looked over, and sure enough, Forrest and Westley were still fighting it out. Forrest was winning, as I had expected. I didn’t know where else to hide, because I wasn’t quite sure this was happening in the first place, so I just hid under the couch. I had to squeeze and suck in my stomach, though, so it wasn’t comfortable at all. I knew I shouldn’t have been eating so many Snickers. I knew it!
I wasn’t sure how long I hid under there. I just heard crashes, vases breaking, glass breaking, wood crashing, bodies thumping and crunches from punches that had landed.
Eventually, Westley said in an angry voice, “This isn’t over, douche!”
“Says the guy with the broken nose and black eye,” Forrest answered coolly. It was a little startling that he was so calm about all of this. But I wasn’t completely sure the fight was over, so I stayed put. When I heard snoring coming from the closet, I guessed my friends weren’t coming out anytime soon, either. The door slammed shut, but I still didn’t budge. I was too terrified. And I was guessing Westley was headed to the hospital, as well.
I felt a hand poking at my stomach and I burst out laughing because it tickled. Forrest laughed as well, and he said, “I think I can guess who’s hiding under here.”
I just continued laughing.
“Are you gonna get out?” he asked uncertainly.
I just laughed some more. I couldn’t get out, was the problem. And I told him so once I had calmed down.
He sighed. “Why’d you get under there if you know you don’t fit?”
"I fit,” I protested. “Sort of. And I was scared, alright?”
He sighed again, and said, “Give me your hand.”
I poked my hand out from under the couch, and he grabbed onto it, gently pulling me out of what could have been my doom.
“Oh, whew!” I said, “That was kinda scary.”
My eyes scanned the living room, and they widened. The place was trashed. There was glass at the sides, where someone had broken the big window at the side of the living room. Vases were broken, the floor was splintered, our glass coffee table was destroyed, and there were little dots of blood on the floor. When I looked up, I saw that Forrest was bleeding slightly. I couldn’t even imagine how Westley looked.
I sighed, and said, “Come on. Lemme go get the first aid kit.”
He followed me into the kitchen, where we had our first aid kit. I grabbed it and grabbed the disinfecting spray.
