The few days leading up to the full moon were pretty normal for the three. They played and laughed and talked just like they normally would. Sure, Remus had to take a few naps with Harry, and he didn't have the energy to make breakfast in the morning, but Harry never noticed anything other than his godfather spending more time relaxing with him.
The day before the full moon came rather quickly for the three. Neither of the men wanted to be away from Harry for the night, but they knew it had to be done. Sirius slowly got himself and Harry ready for the trip to Hogwarts while Remus reminded him of the time constraint and importance of the day.
Once they had made it to Hogsmead, Harry was as happy as could be. He was with his godfathers, and they were all going on a trip together! Sirius looked to Remus with a sad expression about leaving the boy.
"Moony, he's going to be so sad." Sirius complained. "I know. I know it's for the best. This is best for all of us. It still makes me a little sad."
"Ya know I could do it on my own, Padfoot." Remus replies with a shrug of his shoulder.
"You know I'd never let you transition alone!" Sirius all but yells.
After a short walk they arrived at the castle where they were greeted by Arglus Filch. The man ushered the three in with his nose turned up and his cat closely following "just in case" as he said to his cat, Mrs. Norris. Filch and Mrs. Norris escorted the two man and their young boy to Professor Mcgonagall's office.
"Ah. Boys, come in, please. Have some tea and biscuits." She insisted while pointing to the chairs in front of her desk. "Now I understand that you'd like me to care for Harry tomorrow night, I'd be happy to do so. It's been so long since I've spent time with the boy."
"Oh Minnie! That's great! He's a great kid! Just as sweet as can be! I know you'll just love him!" Sirius explodes.
"Of course, Sirius. Merlin how I miss you four at this school. It's been rather quiet, people are actually focusing on learning, what a concept." Minerva laughs.
"Perfect, thank you so much Professor." Remus says avoiding mentioning that Peter was disowned from the friendship, and they'd rather not mention him. "We did have another question, if you don't mind?"
"I will answer any question to the best of my ability, Mr. Lupin." She replies.
"What do you know about Lucius Malfoy?" He asks abruptly.
The Professor takes a deep breath, choosing her words before replying.
"I know that he wasn't as devoted to the Dark Lord as everyone assumed. I know that he worked with Dumbledore on a few missions. And I know that he testified against Peter Pettigrew." She says as she sets her glasses down and rubs the bridge of her nose.
"Okay then." Sirius sighs with Harry on his lap playing with his toy Niffler that kept trying to scamper away. "We'll talk about that later, Moony." He says with a pat on Remus' leg.
"Thank you again, Professor. We will bring him to you with everything that you will need tomorrow after breakfast, is that okay?" Remus asks.
"Of course. I'm sure the house elves can make him something for lunch and dinner, so no need to bring food along. Harry are you excited to spend the night in the castle?" The woman says directing her question at the young boy in Sirius' lap.
"Yes!!" He exclaims just as happy as can be.
"Well it's settled, then. I'll see you tomorrow." She shakes all three of their hands and shows them to the floo.
Back at 12 Grimmauld Place the men start packing all of Harry's favorite toys and books into the backpack to send him with for Mcgonagall. Sirius and Remus had to explain to Harry that they wouldn't be staying with him, because Uncle Moony needed a night away, but that Sirius would be there after breakfast to pick him up. Harry seemed to understand and decided that he wanted to sleep in their bed that night.
After a restless night from having Harry twist, turn, and take up most of the bed the men woke up to get breakfast started and triple check the bag for any missed items that Harry would want.
"Waffles?" The little boy asked in a sleepy voice.
"Whatever you want, Prongslet." Remus replies while making his tea.
After breakfast and being sure to shrink the crib to fit inside the bag, the three apparated to Hogsmead and walked to the castle. Upon arriving they reminded Minerva Mcgonagall of all of Harry's favorite things and what he did not like for the third time. After saying goodbye the men decided to head out.
"Moony! Padfoot! Don't go!" The boy cried and clutched onto the ropes the men were wearing.
"Prongslet, we have to. But don't worry; right after breakfast I'll be here to take you home. Minnie will love you and give you what you need until then. Okay, little man?" Sirius replied.
"Mmkay." The little boy replied while half falling asleep in the woman's arms. "Love you."
The men kissed him on the head and departed with their hands interlocked.
"I'm gonna miss him, Moony." Sirius said once they were home.
"Me too, Padfoot. However we do have the place to ourselves.." He replied with a half smile and an arm around the other man's waist.
"That's true." Sirius said while scooping Remus up and carrying him to their bedroom. Most of their day was spent in those four walls until the sun set and they apparated into the woods on the outskirts of the city.
This change was harder than it has been in the past. Sirius assumed it was because of the lack of his entire pack. The next morning Sirius made breakfast and brought it to Remus in bed, he woke him up with kisses from his neck down his back, as gentle as possible as to not wake then sleeping man to quickly.
"Moony baby, I'm going to go get Harry. I'll be back before you know it." Sirius whispered to the man after making sure that he ate at least some of his breakfast. He then took the floo directly into Mcgonagall's office.
"Padfoot!!" Harry yelled as he ran into the man's arms.
"Hey Prongslet!!" Sirius replied spinning the boy in a circle. "How was he Minnie?"
"Other than getting into bed with me in the middle of the night he was an angel." Minerva replied with an affectionate smile to the boy. "I think he even had Serverus wrapped around his little fingers." She said laughing.
"Perfect! He said nuzzling the boys neck. "We can't thank you enough, really."
"Honestly, I wouldn't mind doing this every full moon." She says.
"Well, we best be off. We will owl you soon." He says to the woman. "I bet Moony needs some of your world famous cuddles, Prongslet!" He says to the boy who just smiled and hugged his godfather tightly as they stepped into the floo to go home.
"Moony we're back, baby." Sirius whispers to his love before placing a napping Harry next to the man and crawling into bed and cuddling the two.
"Mm. Love you two." Remus mumbles and kisses each of them.
A few hours later Sirius wakes to the sound of an owl tapping at the window. It's from Narcissa asking about setting a date for the boys to be properly introduced. Sirius isn't sure when to tell her would be a good time, so he simply replies that he is also excited for the afternoon, but he's not sure of a date quite yet. He really wanted to talk to Dumbledore himself first, then he realized that there would be no harm in the boys getting together and decides to get Remus' opinion on the matter over breakfast the following morning.
Soon after Harry and Sirius eat dinner they climbed back into bed with Remus and slept through the night.
