Sirius and Harry were busy planning the big proposal for the entire week. So busy in fact that Remus almost caught them on more than one occasion. They always came up with one excuse or another for their hushed tones and scrambling to hide things when he came in the room after work. Remus just assumed that Sirius was ensuring that Harry would carry out the Marauders legacy, granted it was a little sooner that Remus would prefer.
"Padfoot," Remus began. "What are you teaching our little boy?" He asked while they were getting settled in bed for the evening.
"Moony! You think that I, of all people, would corrupt our little Prongslet?! I'm appalled!" Sirius said clutching his hand to his heart in mock shock.
"I love you, I really do." Remus said had his kissed Sirius and laid back.
The following morning Harry woke up bouncing with excitement. Today was the day! They were surprising Remus with a trip to the ocean and a picnic, and Harry could not wait. He ran into his Godfathers' room without knocking at 6:00 in the morning and jumped onto their bed. Sirius woke up startled and turned into Padfoot, a large black dog, once he realized it was Harry he began kissing the little boys face and playing right next to Remus until he woke up and was sitting, they wanted to make sure he was fully awake.
"Hey you two." Remus said rubbing his eyes. "You're never up this early, what's going on?"
"Today's the- oh, I'm just excited." Harry said catching himself before he let the surprise slip. Sirius gave him a look with a grin and scooped him up carrying him down stairs to start breakfast. They had made the sandwiches and packed them into a basket the night before.
"Mooooooooony! Breakfast!!" Harry called from downstairs. He was already dressed and ready for the day. When Remus came downstairs he was showered, dressed, and ready for the day. Sirius caught a glimpse of Remus and good jaw dropped, he was dressed well, had his hair perfect, and quite frankly was stunning. There was a moment of panic where Sirius thought that Remus knew the plan.
"Well, good morning!" Sirius said checking the man out.
"Hello love." He said kissing Sirius and walking over to pour juice for Harry. "So, what are we doing today that's got you so excited?"
"Secrets!" Harry giggled.
"Don't worry about anything, Moony. We have everything planned. We leave here in twenty minutes." Sirius said with a wide grin.
After breakfast the three apparated to Remus' favorite beach in France, the four Marauders had visited it one summer that they had spent with James and his parents. Once they arrived Remus' jaw dropped, he had no idea that Sirius remembered how much he had loved it here. He smiled at the man he loved for just a moment before Harry dragged him off begging him to play in the water. While the two were playing in the water Sirius set up their lunch, which included Remus' favorite sandwiches and chocolate ice cream. He charmed lights to float around the tent and blanket he set up. About an hour later Harry was calling Sirius to come play with them as well. The two men swung Harry by the hand into the water with a floating charm that would make sure he floated right back to them instead of following the current just a little down the beach. After an hour or so they got out to have lunch. Upon realizing that they were having his favorite foods, Remus gave Sirius a questioning look, but dug in anyway, not really caring why they were buttering him up.
Once they had cleaned lunch up and built about ten sand castles with Harry they were sitting under the little tent watching the sunset when Sirius called Remus over to the water. 'Here we go, now I'll find out what they've been planning and my part.' Remus thought remembering how it was in school with James and Sirius. That's when Remus' eyes grew huge, just as Sirius got down on one knee in the sand.
"Remus John Lupin, I cannot imagine a life where we are not together. We've been through everything someone can go through together and I can't imagine going through anything with anyone else. You've kept me grounded, kept me sane, and made sure that I never forgot who I really am. With that being said, will you do me the highest honor of marrying me?" Sirius asked a little but nervous, staring at the other man who seemed to be taking a while to answer. "I mean, you don't have to say yes if you don't want to." Sirius said rather quietly looking away.
"Are you serious?! Of course! Yes! A million times, yes!" Remus said grinning, wrapping the man up in his arms and kissing him.
"Of course he's serious, that his is name! Told you he's say yes, Padfoot!" Harry laughed running up and hugging their legs.
"Is this what you two have been planning all week?!" Remus asked laughing. "I was thinking that it had something to do with the neighbor, and that I'd have a part in it. It was making me rather nervous." He kissed his fiance again, now there was a word he could get used to saying.
Back at 12 Grimmauld Place Harry was running around excited asking questions about the party, and what they would do, and where it would be. Whereas the two men just relaxed and watched their little boy until it was time for him to go to bed. Once Harry was in bed and asleep the men casted a silencing charm and went to their room not actually sleeping until the sun started to rise.
"I suppose that we should tell our friends today?" Remus asked. "Then again we could just send Harry to the Longbottom's or Weasley's for the night, have the house to ourselves, and worry about talking to other people until tomorrow." He asked while nuzzling into Sirius' neck and kissing the more sensitive areas.
"Mmmm. I like that idea. Let's get Prongslet fed and owl Alice." Sirius said, melting into Remus. Right on time Harry came knocking on the door calling them for breakfast. During breakfast Remus wrote to Alice and Frank asking if Harry would be able to spend the night with them. Just after they had gotten Harry dresses they received the reply that they would love to have Harry. The men explained that they didn't want to tell anyone that they were getting married yet so he had to keep it a secret. With a little pout Harry said that he wouldn't tell anyone. As they helped Harry get his things together to stay with Neville all Harry talked about was going to the muggle park with the big slide that was next to the Longbottom's house and how excited he was to play with Neville.
"Okay Prongslet, you ready?" Remus asked as he was stepping into the fireplace.
"Yes!" Harry said grabbing to hold onto to Remus' hand.
Over at the Longbottom's Harry and Neville spent most of the day running around in the garden playing. When they raced over to the swings hanging from a large tree Harry saw a snake and told him that they were about to use the swing that the snake was wrapped around so he might want to move.
"Woah! You can talk to snakes?!" Neville said leaning over to get a closer look.
"Yeah, I've always been able to." Harry said with a shrug. After a while of playing Neville's mum, Alice, called the boys inside to get themselves cleaned up for dinner. It took the boys a while to stop splashing water at each other and actually wash themselves up. While they were having dinner Neville casually mentioned that Harry could talk to snakes, saying how cool it was to see him do it. Thankfully Alice and Frank Longbottom were order members and very close to Sirius and Remus, so they assumed the two men knew about this ability and weren't too worried about it.
"Harry dear, you know your parents would be very proud of you." Alice said looking into Harry's eyes that were so much like her best friends. After Alice and Frank were tortured by Bellatrix Lestrange they had lost their memories for months, not knowing who anyone was. When they finally came out of it they didn't know two of the people they were closest to had died. Alice was heart broken, her best friend had died to save her son and she didn't have a chance to go to the services because she had no idea who she was at the time. All Alice had left to remember her by were pictures and the green of her son's eyes, she couldn't help but think of her when she saw the little boy.
The following day when Sirius and Remus came to pick Harry up Alice and Frank hugged Harry a little tighter and told him that they loved him. Neville ran up and asked when they could play together again, he was told that they would be getting together again soon. At that the three went home to spend a nice relaxing day at home before Harry had to go back to school and Remus had to go to work.
