Chapter 17

When Thursday rolled around Remus and Narcissa were still a little nervous about the Granger's reaction, whereas Sirius was his usual carefree self. Harry and Draco were just excited that they would be able to pay with Hermione outside of school!

"Moony, relax, between you and Cissy there's been enough planning. They'll react how they react and all we can do is hope for the best and do our best damage control." Sirius said rubbing Remus' shoulders.

"I know, Padfoot." Remus sighed. "But aren't you the least bit worried about what might happen?"

"Nope!" He said popping a grape into his mouth. "No use worrying about what might happen, just have to be ready for the most probable outcomes."

"Hi boys!" Narcissa called strolling in the front door. "Are you ready for this?"

"Not at all." Remus replied at the same time Sirius said "Born ready!"

Upon arriving at the school the three took a deep breath and called the Granger's over. With smiles on their faces they lead the way to the underground station to catch the tube. Harry loved taking the underground, during one full moon Dumbledore had told him that he had a scar of the map! Once they arrived at 12 Grimmauld Place Remus made the tea as Sirius escorted everyone outside.

"So, Mr. and Mrs. Granger, how are you today?" Narcissa asked talking slowly which made the Granger's a little nervous.

"Just fine, Narcissa. Are you okay?" Jean asked.

"Oh yes! Just fine. Thank you for asking!" Narcissa said smiling.

"Remus!" Sirius exclaimed as soon as the man brought the tea out. "Jean, Patrick. Do you believe in magic?" Sirius asked as though that was a completely normal conversation. Whereas his fiance and cousin were staring at him with wide eyes.

"Um, well, I'm not sure what you mean by that." Patrick said looking over to his daughter who was paying by the large tree with the boys.

"Magic, you know? People making things happen by saying certain words, wands, witches, wizards. Magic." Sirius said just about giving Remus and Narcissa heart attacks. Unfortunately they were stunned momentarily.

"Jean, Patrick, I'm so sorry, we were going to do this slower." Remus said giving Sirius a look that made it clear how stupid he thought Sirius was. "The thing is, from what the boys have told us, we've gathered that your little Hermione is a witch. A good one at that. You see, the three of us and our boys can do magic. We're wizards and Narcissa here is a witch, just like your little girl."

The Granger's just stared, stunned. It did make sense. If they told her that she couldn't have a certain toy, even if they hid it, she'd always have it in her room somehow. If she couldn't reach something she would just make it come to her.

"Please don't be scared! It's completely okay, we can help you learn. She really shouldn't be performing magic at school, the ministry would have to get involved if the muggles at school found out." Narcissa said rushing her words out.

"Muggles are just non-magical people, like you two. No one will hurt her, she's perfectly safe, we just thought you'd like to be told by us instead of a group of ministry officials." Remus said quickly when he noticed their eyes go wide again.

"A-a witch?" Mrs. Granger said. "Our little Hermione? It makes sense, though. As much as any of it can make sense."

"Jean, is-is this real?" Mr. Granger asked with wide eyes.
