I am personally going to be a sophomore in high school this year so I have some advice for all you girls going into high school this year.

1. Join As Many Extracurricular Activities
You want to keep yourself busy throughout the year otherwise, freshman year will be the most boring year of your life. Also this is a great opportunity to make new friends and meet new people. And plus, it's great on your transcript when it comes to college in the future.

2. Keep Your Friend Circle Small
It took me forever to finally do this but I finally did, and I am happy. Huge friend groups aren't always as good as they may seem. Believe it or not, there is more drama in bigger friend groups than smaller groups. It's also better to focus on your schoolwork.

3. Upperclassmen Are Not MEAN
NO MATTER HOW THE SHOWS AND MOVIES PORTRAY THEM TO BE, upperclassmen are not as intimidating as you may think. As long as you don't really threaten their dominance in your school, you should be fine. But trust me, upperclassmen have already gone through whatever you're going through, so they can act like your older brother or sister in that school. Im the oldest in my family, so I don't have any older siblings telling me what to expect in high school, so upperclassmen can act as so.

4. Freshman Year IS Important
I know so many people who blew off freshman year and partied and just didn't pay attention in classes. Freshman year is the first year of building ur transcript and your GPA. If you have a low GPA to start, it's gonna be very difficult to bring it back up the following years.

5. Avoid Drama
Easier said than done, but trust me, in the long run, it'll be so much better for you and your health. Drama just isn't good for you especially if you get stressed out.

6. Read Textbooks
I remember having a teacher who let us copy his notes that he made for our class, and I studied it, and when it came time for the rest I failed it because everything I studied from the notes was nothing like the test. Basically the textbooks is gonna be your best friend when it comes to studying. Basically the textbook is most likely where the teacher is inspired for the questions on the test.

7. Use Your Locker
This will do you such a service on your backpack. Take out some stuff from a unit and put it in your locker.

8. Stay As Organized As Possible
Organization is key. Not just for freshman but for everyone. So stay as organized as possible. Have separate binders, get a 5-subject notebook, invest in a planner. I'll do a chapter on organization very soon.

9. Attend Homecoming and Sporting Events
Freshman year is the year of firsts in high school, so basically take it as it comes and make the most of it.

10. HAVE FUN!!
Even though you want to stay focused in school, have some fun. Don't stress yourself out too much.
