My Head or My Heart?

Chapter 2

"Ahhh, thanks for gracing us with your presence. I refuse to repeat myself so you'll have to ask someone what went on and I expect you to know all the information that was given out," Sherry said with an attitude. I wanna smack the disrespect out of her ass sometimes I thought to myself.

We headed for the few available seats and continued listening to the very pointless, very uninformative rest of Sherry's speech. By the time she finished I was pissed. I literally could've asked somebody about this later, she said nothing of importance. I missed out on like 4 hours of sleep for this?! The nerve. The whole night shift were grumbling by the time we all got up to head back home to resume our sleep before our shifts.

"Hey Rayne, what was the beginning of the stupid meeting about?" Rayne was another nurse that worked the morning shift. She was super cool and very detailed about everything so I knew she'd be the one to ask if I wanted the "correct" information.

"Hey Jaya girl! Well honestly she made it seem like ya'll missed a bunch of stuff and in reality all you missed was the fact that she's bringing on another doctor who's supposed to basically be the shit. He's an older guy and has been abroad helping out with opening hospitals all over the world in less fortunate countries. Sounds awesome right? I think his name was--"

"Girl," I chuckled "it's all good, I'll just meet him when he gets here if we cross paths or if Sherry makes it a point for us all to kiss ass."

Rayne looked at me and laughed. "Okay okay, I got carried away but other than that she's adding a few things to the cafeteria and our lunches have been extended 15 minutes but if we're even a minute late she will take that 15 minutes away. She seriously does suck!" I narrowed my eyes at her, not intentionally because it was not her fault, "so you mean to tell me this witch had night shift miss out on some valuable sleep to tell us something she could've put on the bulletin board?!" I sighed and rubbed my temples. This lady is gonna be the death of us. Rayne shook her head and rolled her eyes in agreement. "Sorry girl, it's not cool at all." She touched my shoulder and headed to what I assume was her first patient.

Saraj walked over to me and was just as annoyed as I was, I could tell by the look on her face. I wasn't sure if she had been informed of the meeting or if she was just as salty as I was about the attitude we got, but before she could even say anything, I looked at her and shook my head. I was already cussing Sherry out six ways from Sunday in my head so I didn't need to hear hers as well. I just needed to get back home so I could eat and get some much needed rest to work tonight's shift. Lucky for me, after tonight I had the next 3 days off. I'd be on call for the last one but it's no biggie. Two days to myself to rest, catch up on shows, eat, spend some much needed time with my boyfriend Luca, maybe hit the town, anything that came to mind will be done.

We walked back to the station to get back on the train. Such a waste of time, money, an outfit, my sanity. I really needed to go back to bed because this attitude of mine has got to go before my shift. We got back on the train and it must have been a miracle because it wasn't as crowded as our trip to the hospital was. We sat down and I put my headphones back in. I listened to my playlist and zoned out for the entire ride. When I heard the announcer yell our stop, I hurried and grabbed Saraj's hand and ran off the train.

"In a hurry are we? Is that man of yours home?" Saraj said with a smirk. I gave her an annoyed look to cover up the fact that I surely hoped Luca would be home. I wanted to catch him before he headed to his meeting. I needed to de-stress if you know what I mean; and Luca could definitely help with that. He was literally the best thing that ever happened to me. Mentally, physically, and emotionally, I mean he was just the ultimate package.

Snap. Snap. Snap.

"Jaya!! Girl snap out of it. Dick got you daydreaming I see." I rolled my eyes at her and popped her in the arm. "Ouch, wtf man!" She's so dramatic, where's the award for her performance.

"Girl get off stage, I barely tapped you, but back to why I tapped you. Don't be worried about it ma'am." I raised my brow at her and chuckled when she stuck her tongue out at me.

"Very mature."

"Yea, yea whatever. Did you find out what we missed from the meeting. I asked David and he claimed he zoned out as soon as he sat down. Unhelpful as hell but I definitely understand. Listening to Sherry talk is like nails on a chalkboard." She shook her head.

"Yea, I asked Rayne what happened and I just had to get out of there because she literally told them that a new doctor is coming in. I had to cut Rayne off because I didn't wanna hear it. Oh yea, she added some stuff to the cafeteria and our lunches will be extended 15 minutes unless we are late then she'll take it away. A bunch of bullshit."

Saraj looked at me like I was crazy. "So what you're saying is, we woke up for nothing?"

"Girl believe me I have been pissed since Rayne filled me in. Why do you think I literally just shook my head at you when you walked up to me. I had to get out of there."

Saraj just shook her head, there wasn't much for either of us to say at this point.

We walked to our cars and parted ways. I sped home in a much better mood thinking of Luca. Man I loved him!! I pulled into our driveway and his car was still there. YES! I so hope I caught him before he got dressed but hell even if he was he was gonna have to spare some time. I giggled at my dirty mind and ran inside.

"BABE!!!!"
