Hello Mrs. Hunt. How may I help you?" Nico asked trying to keep a calm voice.
"please Dr. Montanari call me Sherry." she hinted tucking a strand of hair behind her ear as she eyed me for a quick second before sitting down on the other empty chair.
"Is there something we can help you with Sherry?" I asked wanting to cut to the chase.
Sherry looked over at me not really trying to hide her annoyance, "well I'll be more than happy to let you know unless I keep getting interrupted."
I opened my mouth, another smart ass retort ready when Nico's voice cut through, "Mrs. Hunt we do appreciate you stopping by. Sorry if we seem a bit on edge, we've been working on some of the patient files and making sure we're prepared for our appointments."
Sherry seemed to relax a little, "oh no problem Doctor. I know how busy you must be these days." I refrained from rolling my eyes. "I was just stopping by to make sure that your mentoring is going good. I know sometimes that Jaya can be a bit to deal with."
"Look here-" I started before Nico cut in.
"Nurse Raj has been quite a good mentee actually. I really have appreciated the chance to take her under my wing."
"of course." Sherry smiled at him, not really paying me any attention. That's fine bitch I don't even really wanna look at you. I thought my hand slightly tightening on the armrest. "well that's good to hear. I'll make sure the higher ups get word of it. So far your reports from the past few weeks have been quite enjoyable to read."
Enjoyable? I thought in annoyance trying really hard to hide my face. Bitch they're medical reports there's nothing enjoyable about them.
"Actually Nurse Jaya has offered some good thoughts and ideas on some of the cases."
Sherry softly exhaled through her mouth, "has she now? Well that's nice you actually take her thoughts into consideration. It shows your good leadership skills Dr. Montanari."
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes if her and I were not in this hospital and she tried this shit. I promise you, she would've gotten punched in the mouth several times over.
"Mrs. Hunt. I mean this with the utmost respect to you and your position. Nurse Jaya is under my watch. She is a good nurse and on the way to be a great doctor. I treat her with the respect she deserves. I would appreciate it if you did the same instead of being slick and trying to make backhanded compliments like a little bitch." he said in a calm but slightly annoyed tone as he locked eyes with her.
I literally had to look down at my shoes and focus on them to keep from laughing so hard. I can only imagine the look on Sherry's face right now.
Sherry looked all kinds of undone as she nervously cleared her throat and stood up, "Well. This has been quite an engaging talk. Thank you Dr. Montanari."
"Mrs. Hunt."
I snarkily smirked as I locked eyes with Sherry as she headed to the elevator, "thanks for stopping by Sherry. We really appreciated what you had to say."
She looked as if she was gonna say something, but she looked towards Nico who was watching curiously. "I'll come and check again later on how things are progressing."
I closed the office door sighing a little bit in victory. Serves that bitch right. I thought the smirk still not leaving my face. She deserved to be taken down a peg or two. I turned back around the smile on my face.
"you just don't know how much that made my night. I don't think anyone has really stood up to Sherry before."
He snorted, "it's not so much standing up to her as much as just putting her in her place. I guess I'll take some heat on it. But I wasn't gonna have her talk about anyone on my staff like that. Especially not you."
