Dean woke up to a blaring BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP of his alarm clock. He groggily turned over and slammed snooze. He slowly got out of bed and went to brush his teeth and go to the bathroom.
Castiel got out of bed and turned off the alarm. He then cooked their pizza rolls while Dean did his morning routine. When Dean was done with his routine, Castiel started his which was about the same as Deans but Dean got dressed after he went to the bathroom and Castiel got dressed before. They were both wearing muscle tank tops and jean shorts. Castiel finished his routine and heard the microwave go off so he grabbed the pizza rolls which him and Dean quickly gobbled up.
"Alright baby are you ready?" Castiel asked enthusiastically.
"Hell yeah." Dean replied, about as enthusiastic as Castiel asked.
Castiel threw some sunscreen in the glove box and they were on their way while listening to Black Sabbath. Castiel drove along the curvy road until he saw a gas station. He figured he should get Dean an energy drink or seven if he wanted him awake for this. Castiel made the Grand Canyon before people walked the earth. He loved it and he hadn't been there in a while. Castiel took the exit ramp and turned left. He was headed to get gas and some snacks and drinks for him and Dean. Dean liked fruit punch so Castiel grabbed him a fruit punch venom energy drink. He mainly chose venom because the cam looked cool. It had a snake eye. Castiel soon was distracted by a narrow doorway in the back of the store. He cautiously entered. Knives. There were knives everywhere. Knife stores in the back of gas stations? That's a new one. Castiel left the back room and checked out after grabbing some snacks. Combos, m&ms, Pringles, etc. Castiel took his items and went back to the car. He threw the snacks in Deans lap and they were on their way. Castiel got back onto the highway. Soon enough they were at the Grand Canyon national park. They had to go through the toll booth. But eventually they were to the first stop on the road around the Grand Canyon. Castiel got out first and opened Deans door placing his hands over Deans eyes and guiding him to the lookout point.
Dean felt Castiel remove his hands. Dean looked out. His mouth gaping in awe. Dean was amazed but he didn't know exactly why Castiel brought him here. Like yes it's a landmark and it's beautiful. But Castiel normally stuck to sentimental places or places he had something to do with. Like yellow stone for example, Cas had explained he helped plant the trees the night prior. But here, Dean didn't know what significance this huge hole in the ground had to Cas.
"Hey Cassy?" Dean asked.
"Yeah babe?" Castiel replied.
"Why are we here?"
"Because it's amazing and pretty."
"Well yes but why did you bring me here?"
"Well I wanted you to see my favorite thing I made here on earth so here it is."
"Wait you made the friekin Grand Canyon?"
Dean didn't hear anything after that. He was too busy looking out over the Canyon imagining Cas sculpting every last bit of the thing he was staring at. He imagined Cassys beautiful hands picking up every rock and putting it in its place. He imagined Castiel building the Canyon as easy as a child builds a lego house. Dean loved the Grand Canyon more than he ever had in that moment. It was made by Cas so it was special. It was beautiful.
"But why?" Dean asked once again.
"I made it for you."
"Well it's obviously older than me so how did you make it for me?"
"Time is fluid. I can bend it on occasion. Can I be honest with you?"
"Of course Cassy."
"I've been in love with you longer than I've let on. I knew of you as Christ made me. The worlds past and future was engraved in my mind so instantly I saw you because it's what I wanted to see."
"Wow. So you made this for me? That's amazing." Dean started tearing up.
"It's okay baby come here."
Castiel led Dean to a bench and they sat down. Castiel felt Dean lay his head on his shoulder. Castiel, in return, laid his head on Deans. They were holding hands and just appreciating the view.
Dean took a picture with his shitty gas station camera. First of the view, then of him and Cas. They were both crying in the photo but it was mainly happy tears. Dean headed back to the car to drink some of his venom energy drink. He was already tired and that was only the first stop of many.
Castiel had followed Dean back to the car. He hopped in the drivers seat and headed to the next look out point. From the next look out point Castiel could see a river in the bottom of the Canyon. He nicknamed it the Dean river. That wasn't its real name of course. But Cas liked to think that it was named after Dean to everyone in the world.
Dean sat on the bench. He stared out in the distance and zoned out.
"Daddy? Daddy!" I heard myself scream over the flames of the house.
"Take your brother outside as fast as you can now Dean go!" My father screamed at me.
I waited in the yard for hours that night but he never came out. Eventually I called up Uncle Bobby. He'd know what to do. He'd know how to get his dad out.
"Bobby daddy got caught in the fire along with mommy and now we're standing in the yard waiting but we've been waiting for hours." I cried into the phone.
"Oh my kiddo I'll be there as fast as possible." I heard Uncle Bobby respond a bit scared.
Uncle Bobby picked us up and took us to his place in Souix Falls. He took care of me and Sammy well into my teens. He let us go at ages 16 and 12. We moved to California off of our parents wills. Then a year later, Bobbys will joined that money pile. I didn't know how to live without-
Deans thoughts were interrupted by Cas shouting.
"DEAN." Cas shouted at him.
"WHAT." Dean mockingly shouted back.
"You were out man. Like you were staring at the rocks out there for like 30 minutes. What were you thinking about?"
"My childhood."
"Oh."
Castiel knew as much as he needed to about Deans childhood. It was tragic. His parents died in a fire. He took care of Sam since age 16. Cas knew Dean would die for Sam. Castiel headed to the car to go to his last and favorite lookout point.
Dean and Castiel arrived at the last spot just as the sun was setting. They sat on the bench. Dean and Castiel snuggled up on the bench and watched the sun set. Castiel sang to Dean. Merrily we fall out of line out of line I'd fall anywhere with you I'm by your side swinging in the rain humming melodies we're not going anywhere until we freeze I'm not afraid anymore I'm not afraid. Forever is a long time but I wouldn't mind spending it by your side carefully we're placed for our destiny you came and you took my heart and set it free. Every word you write or sing is so warm to me so warm to me I'm torn I'm torn to be right where you are. Castiel stopped singing because Dean was falling asleep.
"No baby you can do that in the car cmon." Castiel pleaded.
"Okay." Dean said as he groggily got up and got in the back seat. Immediately laying down and falling asleep.
Castiel made sure to drive extra careful on the way back. Castiel arrived at the motel and he carried Dean to their bed. Castiel laid him down and layed down himself.
"I'm in love with you Dean." Castiel whispered.
"I'm in love with you more my angel." Dean replied in his sleep.(A/N)
I know it was hael that made the Grand Canyon not Cas but it's an alternative universe so fuck it.
