Sam woke up as angry as when he went to bed. He decided to go for a jog down the coast, hoping it would calm him down. He hated being angry. Especially at the man his brother was marrying. If Dean loved him, so could Sam. He thought as he jogged past a few crab shells and sand dollars that washed up. Sam never realized how much he loved the ocean. It's so calming to watch. Sam took a break and just waded in the water, picking up pretty sea shells he found. He wanted a bunch of shells to put in a jar as a present to Dean and Cas for their wedding. He picked up about a hundred, filling his pockets of his shorts. The shells were weighing his shorts down as he walked back to his motel room. He felt much better. He forgave Castiel. Sam didn't want to hold a grudge. Especially against his brothers husband who was dying. Sam would tell Cas about his change of heart when he woke up. Sam decided to play around on the internet on his laptop until Castiel decided he didn't need anymore sleep.
Castiel woke up around noon. He noticed Sam was already awake. He tried to not let Sam notice that he was up but Sam noticed anyways. Castiel just pretended to be asleep despite Sam having seen his eyes open. Castiel didn't want to deal with Sams angst at the moment. Castiel dramatically flopped over Dean in his so called sleep.
"Cas I know you're awake." Sam said rudely. He started to rethink forgiving Cas.
"Fine. I am. Sam, I just want to say I'm sorry. I should have known coming out to God was a bad idea. I should have known that God would hurt Dean."
Castiel broke down. He felt Deans arms wrap around him. Castiel could hear Deans slow steady breathing. He was still asleep. He was comforting Cas even in his sleep. Castiel cried into Deans chest. Tears dripping from his bright brilliant blue eyes. Cas couldn't even bare the thought of living without Dean. He loved Dean and he needed him. He needed to find a way to save him.
"Sammy it's okay I'm here." Dean whispered as he held his crying little brother.
"Dean there was so much fire." Sammy had been having nightmares of his parents deaths for the past month or so.
He was only six. Dean thought in his ten year old brain. Sam never even met mom or dad. He was a baby. Dean held Sammy tighter. Sam cried into Deans chest.
"It's okay Sammy. I've got you. You wanna sleep with me tonight?"
Sam nodded his head. His face bright red and tears dripping from his eyes as he sniffled slightly.
Dean wrapped his arms around Sammy as he felt Sammys breathing slow down as he fell asleep.
"It's o-ay." Cas heard Dean mutter in his sleep. "It's oay samay."
"Dean?" Sam said after hearing Dean say those all too familiar words. He knew the exact dream Dean was having. He'd told him the play by play many times. Sam felt comforted by the thought Dean still had those dreams. He always knew everything would be okay when Dean said that in his sleep.
"Sammy?" Dean half shouted from his sleep state.
This had never happened before. Sam rushed to his brothers side. Sam shook Dean awake from his cold sweat nightmare state.
"Dean." Sam shouted. "DEAN."
"Wha- ugh huh? Sammy?" Dean awoke confused.
"Dean what were you dreaming of?"
"I was having my regular dream of you having nightmares. Then I started coughing up my organs and all my blood. Then I was in this dark, dark place and for miles around, I could only see black. But then you appeared and your eyes were being held open with hooks. You were in a cage Sammy."
"Dean that's just a nightmare it's all okay." Sammy coaxed Dean down from his panic.
"Alright, well. I think it's time for the love birds to get ready and I'll bring the cats to the groomers." Sam stated before grabbing Angel and Ellie and headed out the door. He took Castiels keys from the hook on his way out and took the impala. He arrived at a nice little boutique for pets a few miles away. He took in the cats and helped them hold them since they'd never been groomed before. Angel was surprisingly easy. Ellie tried to bite a few times. She was older and angry as it was. Didn't help that people were trying to put bows on her ears and tail. Sam waited til the cats were done and headed back.
Castiel helped Dean out of his clothes. Helping put on new boxers and putting his tux on him. Castiel tied Deans tie and smiled up at him. Castiel couldn't believe that he was going to marry that man in a few hours. Castiel got dressed in his tux without Deans help.
Dean was busy playing with his hair sitting in the bed. He was using a hand mirror to adjust every single strand. Dean was excited and exhausted. He went to the fridge and grabbed a beer and monster. He chugged part of the monster and poured the beer in. Shaking it just enough to mix it without making the carbonation make the can explode. Dean heard Sammy open the door.
"Heya Sammy!" Dean said enthusiastically. Partially from real happiness and partially the energy drink he just chugged.
"Hey Dean. Looking sharp." Sam complimented his brother. Dean did look good for, well, being Dean.
"Thanks Sammy. Get dressed and put the cats in the bathroom until we go. They need to be kenneled when we leave. You need to get dressed yet."
Sam quickly went to the bathroom and changed. Not before letting Cas sneak the cats out though. It was almost time.
Castiel brought out the cats and brought in the cake for later. Castiel carried Dean to the car with his beer-monster. Castiel saw Sam come out and he joined them in the back seat.
Dean looked out the window on the ride there. He noticed they weren't at a restaurant. They were at a- he was interrupted by a meow from the back seat. Wait. Tuxes, cats, Sammy? This wasn't a date. This was a wedding. Dean let Castiel carry him down to the ocean level rock to meet the priest.
Sam carried the cats down to the beach. He tied their leashes to each other so they couldn't run away. Not easily anyway. He shoved their dresses on since they had managed to get them off on the ride over. Sam set the cats down on the sand next to Cas. Sam then walked Dean down the so-called aisle. Sam took his place next to Dean and listened as the priest said his piece. He noticed Deans face was completely happy. He had never seen Dean this happy. Not even on his 17th birthday when he could finally get up and go to college.
"You may now kiss the groom." The priest said as Sammy ran out to take pictures of their first married kiss.
Castiel pulled out his phone and turned on his and Deans song. Merrily we fall out of line out of line I'd fall anywhere with you I'm by your side swinging in the rain humming melodies. The phone sang as Castiel danced with Dean in the sand. They were both barefoot and could feel the warm sand between their toes. They looked out to the endless waters. It was a gorgeous place to get married.
Dean couldn't be happier. He was a bit surprised but he was glad Cas was his husband. After their first dance Dean looked at the rock formation around them. He found starfish and sea urchins and sea anemones and a bunch of other cool sea creatures. Dean wished he could stay in that moment forever. The moment of him and Cas poking anemones and laughing as they grabbed onto their fingers. Dean started to get tired so he started to hike up the hill to the car. He fell and he let Cas carry him up. Dean watched Sam grab the cats, he needed to know that the cats were safe and that they would be coming with back to the motel.
Sam hopped in the back seat, cats in hand. Sam was glad he had booked an extra room so that Dean and Cas could consummate their marriage or whatever.
"Hey Cas?" Sam said quietly letting Dean sleep.
"Yeah Sam?" Castiel nervously replied.
"I'm sorry for exploding on you like that. I just needed someone to blame and you seemed like an easy target."
"It's okay Sam it was my fault. I forgive you."
"I forgive you too."
Castiel pulled into the parking spot closest to their door. Sam got out and carried the cats into Cas and Deans room. Sam then said goodnight and hugged them and gave them their present of shells.
"Where are you going?" Dean asked Sam.
"I got a separate room for myself so you two can consummate or whatever." Sam replied laughing.
"Oh." Dean chuckled.
Castiel carried Dean in and cut him a piece of cake.
"Happy marriage Dean." Castiel smiled and said.
"Happy marriage to you too Cas. I'm in love with you." Dean tiredly replied.
"I'm in love with you more."
"Do we have to consummate or whatever that is tonight? I'm tired."
"Well since consummating is just losing your virginity the night of marriage, we can't really do that." Castiel said giggling.
Dean stripped down by himself for once and went to the bathroom. He pet Ellie who had happened to follow him in there. Dean washed his hands and jumped onto the soft comfy bed.
Castiel stripped down and noticed it was a bit cold. He grabbed the sweatshirt Dean had left in the trunk. Castiel had brought it in earlier. He put it on.
"Thank you by the way." Castiel said.
"For what?" Dean asked half asleep.
"For this sweatshirt. For not hating me for what is happening to you. For everything really."
"Oh yeah, that. You're welcome."
"Goodnight Dean I love you."
"I love you too Cas, goodnight."
Castiel held Dean in his arms as they both slept in the same bed for the first time as a married couple. This was true love.
