Trigger warning for drugs"BAABE TODAYS THE DAY TODAYS THE DAY." Castiel woke Dean up by shouting.
"Dude what the shit it's noon let me sleep." Dean whined.
"But we need to get Danneel!"
"Oh yeah I completely forgot fuck."
"How could you forget?"
"No idea."
Dean threw on an old band tee and jeans running out to the impala. He waited for Cas and waited for what seemed like an eternity but was only a minute at most. Dean started up the car and in less than five minutes they were at the adoption agency that was 17 miles away. Dean sped but he didn't care. He deserved it. He was about to take his daughter home. Dean pulled into the adoption agency and quickly got out, locking the car. Dean ran in and quickly did the talking and paperwork. He cried when he picked up Danneel to hug her. He saw Castiel cry too.
Castiel picked up Danneel the moment Dean set her down. He asked her if she had all her belongings and she said she didn't have any which made Cas cry harder. Cas knew Danneel noticed because she hugged him harder. Castiel smiled through the tears and carried Danneel out to the impala, snapping her into the back seat. Castiel hopped in the front seat and they screeched their tires out of the parking lot. Castiel smiled as Danneel screamed of happiness and clapped, very amused.
"Danneel do you like ice cream?" Dean asked.
"Aw hell yeah." Danneel responded.
"Hey baby doll don't say that. In school anyways. Swear all you want with us but not in public alright?"
"Got it. Got any AC/DC in those tapes?"
"Hey Danneel?"
"Yeah daddy?"
"I'm dad. Don't call me daddy. Please. Or Cas. We're both dad. And I'd like you to know I love you."
Dean threw in a AC/DC tape and smiled so hard he thought his cheeks were going to break as Danneel screamed along to every song. Dean was so obsessed with this kid already. He was so glad they didn't paint the room black. He knew Danneel would decorate it with posters and drawings of god knows what. Dean pulled into their driveway.
"Wow. This is a mansion dude how'd you afford this?" Danneel asked Cas.
"Magic." Castiel smiled.
Danneel followed her new Dad's into the house and took everything in. The light fixtures, the photos everywhere, the half naked man in the kitchen. Wait.
"SAM FOR THE LOVE OF PIE PUT SOME CLOTHES ON." Dean shouted.
"Why?" Sam looked down. "Who's she?"
"Sam I already told you about her. Danneel this is my brother Sam. Sam this is our daughter Danneel."
"Daughter? Dude. Your not even legally allowed to drink."
"Oh suck a dick Sam."
"Dude don't swear in front of the kid."
"Suck a dick Sam." Dean and Danneel said in unison, both smirking.
"Jesus Christ why do I live here." Sam questioned.
"Because I let you." Castiel told him.
"Danneel, would you like to see your room?" Dean asked.
"My room?" Danneel answered.
"Yeah where you sleep and stuff."
"That's called the couch."
"What? No no no baby doll. Follow me."
Danneel followed Dean up into a purple room. There were toys, clothes, a bed, books. Danneel felt tears dripping from her eyes.
"This.. this is mine?" Danneel said, her voice cracking.
"Well this and whatever else you want/need." Dean told the child.
"This.. this is mine. It's mine."
"Yes baby doll you like it?"
"I love it. I love you."
"I love you too."
"Why were you in foster care?" Castiel butted in.
"Cas you can't just-" Dean was interrupted.
"Oh it's fine uh well my mom killed my dad then herself and before that happened I wasn't allowed in any part of the house besides my couch and the bathroom." Danneel said so nonchalantly it was sad.
"Oh. Well that's depressing. You wanna go shopping or anything?" Dean asked.
"Well you said ice cream earlier."
"I'll get some. You have to eat it downstairs though."
Dean headed down to the kitchen to grab the tub of ice cream. He got a couple scoops into a bowl for Danneel and set it on the counter. Dean saw the girl happily bounce down the stairs towards the counter. Dean smiled and had Cas watch her. He needed to talk to Sam. Dean entered Sams room without knocking because of habit. What he saw devastated him.
"Sam.?" Dean squeaked out.
"Oh hey Dean it's not what it looks like I swear I was um giving myself insulin." Sam lied.
"You're not diabetic."
"Uhh."
"Where's the rest."
"What?"
"You heard me."
"Dean I'm not telling you where my heroine is. It's mine."
"Its heroine? I thought it was weed Sammy why?"
"Because you got healed because of me. No thank you. You don't even spend time with me and you then go and adopt a fucking kid."
"Sam I'm so sorry."
"Yeah sorry don't fix shit Dean now leave me alone."
"No. Look at yourself."
"Dean I'm fine." Sam was dragged to a mirror.
"Look."
Sam looked up, wiping his hair out of his eyes. Jesus I do look horrible. His eyes were red and puffy, looked like he hadn't slept in years. He had lost a lot of weight. Enough to be noticeable. It'd only been a couple days but he was deteriorating quickly. Maybe his dealer was right. Maybe he should stop. But why? Dean wasn't gonna magically care when Sam was okay. It took crisis. His skin was dark and pale at the same time. He looked dead.
"I look dead." Sam whispered.
"Yes. You do. Now answer me. Where's. The. Rest." Dean demanded.
"In that drawer." Sam pointed to his nightstand.
Dean took the herione and all the needles and other supplies and threw it in a trash can far away from their house. Dean was so upset at himself for having missed that his brother was struggling. Dean decided to sleep with Sam that night. Dean fell asleep quickly, holding Sam and telling him it was okay. He knew Sam was out before he was. He heard his breathing slow. Dean pulled Sam close.
Castiel led Danneel to her bedroom but decided she could sleep in his bed that night since Dean was with Sam doing whatever. Castiel didn't know about Sams problem. Castiel had Danneel put on pjs and let her into bed. He laughed as she got scared of the cats. He forgot to tell her they had cats. She loved them though so all was good. Castiel held Danneel in his arms until her breathing slowed to a steady pace and then Castiel drifted away as well.
