Dean woke up to the annoying beep of the alarm clock and he angrily hit snooze. He felt Castiel get out of bed and get ready. The alarm went off again a few minutes later. He gave in and shut the alarm off. He got dressed and went to find some food from their snack area. He started coughing and waited for Castiel to get out of the bathroom. Eventually, Castiel came out and Dean rushed in not even bothering to shut the door behind him. He threw up blood into the toilet as normal. Afterwards he carried on with his routine and ate the food he set out for himself. He noticed Castiel was already ready so he hurried with his eating and told Castiel he was ready.
Castiel ordered them an Uber and they went and checked out of the motel while they waited. The Uber showed up and was really chatty but Cas didn't feel like talking so he ignored her. He didn't feel like it was rude. He just wasn't a morning person. This lady clearly was. They arrived at the airport and Castiel grabbed their bags, having Dean carry the lightest bag. Castiel checked them in and got their tickets back home. They headed towards security which surprisingly had no line. They breezed through security and headed to their gate. Castiel played on his phone while letting it charge and he saw Dean fall asleep in his chair. Castiel soon felt Deans head resting on his shoulder after he saw him fall asleep. Castiel knew it'd seem like forever until their flight boarded. Their flight left at 10am after all, and with it being only 7:58 in the morning, Castiel patiently waited while playing candy crush. Why do I need to crush candies? Candies make Dean happy. Why do I want to crush Deans happiness? Castiel thought to himself.
Dean awoke to the speaker coming on and saying that flight A3 is now boarding. That was them. Dean handed his ticket to the man and got on with Castiel following close behind. Dean was not as nervous as he had been the first time but he was still nervous. He didn't like the idea of a huge object levitating in the sky, miles high. Despite his fears, he put his duffel bag in the over head bin and put his backpack under his seat and waited for take off. Soon enough, the plane was in the sky and raising in altitude. Dean could feel himself shaking violently from fear but that quickly ended when he heard Castiel singing.
"Merrily we fall out of line out of line I'd fall anywhere with you I'm by your side swinging in the rain humming melodies we're not going anywhere until we freeze I'm not afraid anymore I'm not afraid forever is a long time but I wouldn't mind spending it by your side." Castiel quietly sang so only him and Dean could hear.
"Carefully we're placed for our destinies you came and you took my heart and set it free. Every word you write or sing is so warm to me so warm to me I'm torn I'm torn to be right where you are I'm not afraid anymore I'm not afraid. Forever is a long time but I wouldn't mind spending it by your side." Dean softly sang back as he saw Castiels eyes start to droop.
Dean grasped Cassys hand and kissed his forehead. He watched in silence as the messy haired man slept on his shoulder. Dean wished he could sleep that peacefully, but his sleep was full of nightmares. Dean looked out the window watching the clouds and cities when there was a brief opening in the clouds. He imagined fake lives for the people below him, all being happier than his slowly ending life. Dean had been so happy the last few days he had almost forgotten he was dying. Dean reached up to his face to play with his piercing. I can't believe you talked me into getting pierced. Let alone on my face instead of like my ear. Dean thought as he glanced at Cassys piercing. Then again I can't believe you got it done too. Mr. Don't give me a shot I'm scared of needles.
Castiel awoke when he felt his ears popping as the plane descended in altitude. He yawned, hoping his ears would unpop but it was useless. He looked at the now asleep Dean and shook him awake carefully.
"Dean?" Castiel whispered in Deans ear.
"Deans not here right now please leave a message after the beep. Beeeeeep." Dean groggily replied, laughing his ass off when he finished talking.
"Okay well we need to get off the plane soon so call me back asap okay? Bye love you Dean." Castiel played along.
Castiel grabbed their bags from the overhead bins and handed the lightest one to Dean again. Castiel headed out of the plane and into the airport through the tunnel thing they used to connect planes to gates. Castiel immediately spotted the long haired moose and pointed him out to Dean. As expected, Castiel saw Dean run up and hug Sam.
"Wow I almost didn't recognize you with your new punk rock look and all." Sammy joked.
"Oh shut up it's just one piercing Sammy." Dean retorted.
"If you say so." Sammy said looking his brother up and down. "Sure you didn't get one down south too?"
"No Sammy that would hurt like hell plus it's none of your business even if I did."
"It is my business I'm your brother."
"Dude that's weird. I'll just tell you the total number of piercings I have. 1. I have 1. So does Cassy."
"Heya Sammy." Castiel said sheepishly. He didn't like when people forgot he was there.
Sam walked over to Cas and picked him up so he and Cas were the same height.
"Hello Cas. How was Minnesota?" Sam asked as they made their way out to the Impala.
"Pretty good. The people there seem nicer than some of the people here. The mall was huge and Dean bought 600 more books."
"Wow Dean you sure your gonna have time to read all those?" Sam asked as he opened the trunk and put their bags back there.
"I'll make time." Dean snarkily replied.
"Okay there mr. Sassy pants."
"Are you 6? Mr. Sassy pants? Really?"
"6 1/2." Sammy annoyingly replied.
"Well. I'm still older so mleeeehhhh." Dean said sticking his tongue out.
"Could both of you act your age?" Castiel inquired.
"Maybe. Not sure yet." Sam replied.
"I will if he will." Dean replied after Sam.
"I swear y'all are a bunch of children." Castiel muttered under his breath.
Sam hopped in the drivers seat and let the lovebirds have the backseat for cuddling purposes. It was still early afternoon but Sam had noticed Dean had been getting more and more tired. He slept more than half the day. He was like a sloth. Sam giggled at the thought of Deans face on a sloth. Luckily he saw Dean and Cas were asleep which was good for him. He didn't want to explain that he was imagining Dean as a sloth. Sam eventually pulled into Castiels driveway and woke up his sleeping brother and brother in law. They complained a bit but got out as Sam carried their bags up to their room.
Dean was just interested in finding his build a bear in his bag to give to Cassy. He dug through his duffel, throwing his clothes all over in the process. He eventually found what he was seeking and held it behind his back waiting for Castiel.
Castiel made his way up the stairs slowly. He opened his and Deans door and saw a dorky smiling Dean. Castiel noticed he was holding something behind him.
"Whatcha got there baby?" Castiel wondered aloud.
"I forgot to give this to you back at the hotel." Dean said sheepishly as he handed the dog to Castiel.
"It even has my trench coat? Dean that's hilarious. Thank you."
Castiel graciously took his gift and found the cat he made for Dean. Castiel accidentally tapped the paw and heard "I love you Cassy." Castiel didn't notice he was crying until he felt Dean wipe a tear from his cheek and whisper it's okay. Castiel put the clothes on his dog and pinned the birth certificate to the wall. He found it comical that Dean named his dog Garfield. Then again Castiel had named Deans cat Otis. Which was from Milo and Otis and Otis was the dog. Coincidentally cute.
Dean unpacked what he hadn't strewn across the floor and put his new books away. He stripped completely and got into bed cuddling Otis. He hadn't dressed Otis or he would have stripped him too. Dean felt the covers shift behind him as Cassy got into bed. Dean had Cas spoon him and Dean spooned his teddy.
Sam walked up quietly to say goodnight but he quickly noticed the two were asleep. He snapped a quick and silent photo with his phone, surprised they didn't wake up to the flash. Sam texted the picture to Castiel and Dean. He knew they'd appreciate it. Especially Cas. Sam then left, shutting the door silently behind him and he headed to bed. Sam cried himself to sleep again that night thinking about how he would soon lose his brother. He didn't like the reality he was facing. Dreams were so much better. He drifted off soon after that thought into an ironically dreamless sleep.(A/N)
I'm going to make y'all hate me before this book is over. It can go either way right now but I'm sure y'all have assumed the worst. Maybe I'll surprise you. Anyways, I got a job offer and I'm so nervous and excited. I'll try my hardest to keep up to date on this. I mean it's only midnight on September 9th so I'm sure I'll be fine. And if I fall behind I doubt anyone would care. Anyways goodnight lol. Thanks for reading.
