THOMAS

Something was going on with mom and dad. Dad was out of town last week and mom came to Carter for a week, two weeks ago. I got to meet my two younger siblings. Nikolas and Nikolai. Nikolas was stubborn. He has slick, black hair just like his dad. I saw a picture of his dad, Nikolas Dragovich. Nikolai has brown hair. She's very cute and looks like mom.

I have figured that my parents have gotten back together. They just don't want the public to know. Mom hadn't returned last night, so I had Nikolas sleep in my room and Nikolai in Liza's room. Liza and I slept on the couch. Mom returned around Midnight. She was smiling and I helped her to the guest room.
In the middle of the night, Nikolai came out of the room she was sleeping in.
"Bubby," Nikolai said. "Tommy."
I opened my eyes to see Nikolai standing in front of the couch.
"Yes," I replied.
"I had a nightmare."
"You did?"
"Can you sing me the song?"
"What song?"
"The song mommy always sings to Nikolas and me."
"Okay."
"She said that she started singing it to you when you began to have nightmares.."
"Desert Lullaby?"
"Yeah."
"Okay."
"I'll be there soon."
"Okay."
I carefully got around Liza without waking her. I went to Nikolai and sat on the bed beside her.
"You ready?" I asked.
"Yeah," Nikolai replied.
"Sleep little baby sleep 'till the morning comes
Mama will keep you from all harm
Sleep little baby under the western sky
I'll sing you a desert lullaby

Sleep little baby sleep on your mama's knee
Don't call the wolf and coyote
Sleep little baby
Hush baby don't you cry
I'll sing you a desert lullaby

"Dream little baby
Dream of a valley green
Far over mountains by the sea
Dream little baby
One day no more you'll roam
Then you'll awake and find a home

Sleep little baby
Sleep 'till the morning comes
Mama will keep you from all harm
Sleep little baby
Under the western sky
I'll sing you a desert lullaby."

When I was done, Nikolai was fast asleep. I kissed her forehead.
"Never thought you could sing," Liza said as I laid back down on the couch.
"How did you know?" I asked.
"I got up to use the bathroom and heard you singing to Nikolai."
"Oh. Well, I can sing."
"Will you sing with me one day?"
"I'm not THAT good. Your an excellent singer."
"Oh, well, thank you. Still will you?"
"Yes."
"I love you."
"I love you, too."
