" I should've known from the start that this was a mistake. Goodbye, Shawn. "

...

Katherine's POV:

" ...And then I saw her. And the moment I saw her, I knew it deep down that I had to make her mine. " Shawn told his mother and she smiled when she noticed him staring at me. He had a big smile on his face and I was trying to hide my blushing cheeks.

"I would really like to continue this conversation, but if Shawn doesn't start getting ready soon, he's gonna be late for his concert."

His parents laughed and then Aaliyah said: " I already like her, big brother. "

She winked at him and then smiled at me. I liked her too, she was just as nice as his parents and I was comfortable around them. I thought I won't be, but surprisingly I am.

" Mom, dad... Aaliyah, thank you for having us, but we really need to go. Kat is right, I'm gonna be late. "

" Of course, anytime. Have a nice time, kids! "

His dad said and we took one last look at them before we left for Air Canada Centre.

When we arrived, in front of the venue was too many fans of all ages waiting to get in. I smiled as I remembered of the day that changed my whole life. Then I froze because I remembered something else, too.

" Shawn, I have to go to your apartment. I totally forgot that I left all my stuff there, including my phone and I haven't told Iva anything about this at all. I was too busy to notice earlier... what kind of a friend am I... "

" The best one. Of course, just go, I'll meet you here. "

" You're truly the best. "

I kissed him on the cheek and quickly left the venue. The city looked pretty even now in the night. Fluorescent lights and signs were everywhere, you could hear different songs coming from every cafe you walk by, see couples walking around holding hands, laughing, talking about who knows what. Every single little thing mattered, every single coincidence, every single smile and hello you get walking down these streets from people who don't even know you.

I could walk around whole night, exploring alleys and coffee shops, but I had to contact my best friend and tell her everything. Luckily, I didn't forget to ask Shawn for a key today so I had it and successfully unlocked the door. I found my purse and took out my phone.

Finally. I unlocked it and immediately saw a bunch of messages from Iva asking me if I want to hang out. I felt so bad because I forgot to tell her and I won't waste any more time waiting to do that. As I finally texted her back and waited for an answer, I got another message. It was from Shawn and I smiled the moment I saw his name pop up on my screen.

" He's probably just checking if I've gotten to the apartment already. " I told myself and laughed.

Every time something like this happens, I ask myself: " How did I deserve this? How did I deserve him? "

But when I opened his message my smile simply disappeared. I stared at the screen with the same sad look and eyes filled with tears and asked myself again...

How did I deserve this?

Shawn's POV:

" Thank you, Toronto! Love you all and see you all very soon! "

Fans started screaming again right after my sentence and I smiled right before I went to backstage. The night was great and I enjoyed much, but I was hoping to see Katherine when I came off the stage. There was no sign of her, but I didn't worry because she'd text me if something went wrong. I checked my phone once again and tweeted about tonight when I heard the sound of door closing. I looked up just to see Katherine and I smiled. What I didn't notice at first was that she was crying.

" Hey, what happ- "

" HOW DARE YOU TO ASK ME THAT?! HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME? WHAT HAVE I DONE WRONG!? I should've known from the start that this was a mistake. Goodbye, Shawn. " She stormed out at me, tears rolling down her face.

I just stood there. I stood there watching her leave as the sound of door slamming echoed in my head. I couldn't move, I couldn't speak, I could only ask myself one of those questions:

What have I done wrong?
