4~QUEEN OF BABYLON

In the third month of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. The Harlan was given a decree to present each maidens to the king.

The king spoke to Sybil the chief Dual that they should present the maidens to him.

The maidens were to have no blemish but well favored and skilful in wisdom and cunning in all knowledge and understanding all science and such as then having ability to stand in the King's palace and whom they might teach the learning and tongue of the Chaldeans with language of Babylon.

And the king appointed unto them a daily provision of food and wine he ate daily upkeep in gold and silver, clothing of the finest purple and silk.

So that at the end of the third month they shall appear before the king.

Now among the maidens was Nephrite who was appointed to Sybil and Ashpenaz as her personal eunuch. And she was given a Babylonian named called jadeite for this was the meaning of her name.

Sybil made sure she was appointed herself to Nephrite because she was sure she is meant to be the next Queen.

Though it is not her duty to be appointed to a maiden, she pleaded with her husband to have her appointed as the late Queen wishes.

Sybille saw that he had no choice than to do his wife bidding because he Also made a vow to the King that the next Queen will be someone who possess all the wills and power, authority of a queen.

Sybil enters Karel Nephrite quarters. She found the young maiden reading a book. Sybil smile for she knows deep in her heart that the supreme maker have heard her Prayers.

"Good morning my lady." she said bowing.

Nephrite looked up and smiled "Please have a seat" Nephrite said gesturing to a chair.

"No my lady have you heard the King's decrees?" Sybil ask.

"Yes why?" Nephrite ask.

"That is why I am here, my Lady. We have little time and so much to do. But first this is Ashpenaz. He is your personal trainer" Sybil introduced the man standing beside her dressed fully like a Babylonian.

"Why are you doing this?" Nephrite ask it is obvious to her that Sybil was going out of her way to help her.

She read it in books that the chief dual must not assist a maiden, why is Sybil helping her?

Sybil sigh only if nephrite knows the reason then she won't ask questions. "That is a question for another day" Sybil said.

"Now let's get you started." She clapped her hands and servants entered the room.

In a room used as Nephrite private coaching.

"Whatever happens in this room must stay in this place, is that clear?" Sybil ask the people including Ashpenaz,Alias,Calais and Nephrite. They all nodded their agreement.

Nephrite seated in the middle of the room, with a big scroll in front of her for noting all that Sybil and the others taught her.

Test 1

"First! To be a Queen you must not be quick in passing out judgement",Sybil said. Nephrite hands went to work writing everything Sybil said. Careful not to miss a point.

Nephrite was put to different test. Some she failed, some she passed.

" A queen must know how to soothe her king when he is troubled" Ashpenaz advised.

Test 2

"A Queen must readily lay assistance to the king whenever asked."  Sybil said.

Nephrite was tested again. Failed some. Passed some.
She was beginning to get the hand of it.

Test 3

"A Queen have grace and poise, she walks with confidence never raises her voice, she's always patients."  Ashpenaz said holding a rod to nephrite chin, she was held by two servants.

A pot of glass was placed on her. And she had to walk on a straight line without looking down or sideways.

Many times the pot fell only to be replaced by another. With great determination Nephrite continued.

She was not the type of person to give up, no matter what happens.

Sybil and Sybille were going roundchecking on the maidens and how they were fairing. They stopped at Nephrite quarters.

"Are you sure, she is the one?" Sybille asked.

Sybil smile. "I have never been more sure of anything in my entire life." Sybil said. She was certain Nephrite is the destined Queen of Babylon, she already possess all the qualities that made the Late Queen Amtrak loved by all....

Test 4

"Learning to speak all language especially the Chaldeans is what makes a you as a queen different and Wise." Calais said.

His duty was teach Nephrite all the language of Babylon and other kingdoms, he also was to teach her the laws and rules of the kingdom.

Test 5

"As a queen you must be tolerant. You can't afford to lose your crown because of little issues. You are not to disturb the king with matters of the Harlan. You go to the king whenever he summons you. You have rights to discuss matters of state with him but only if he ask you too. Your place in the courtroom depends on whether he wants your help or not." Ashpenaz said.

Nephrite sigh this is not what she want. She is going all this because she wants to please her parents.

Being a queen is not the same as being a princess, it takes time and hard work to learn. If you miss out one rule you miss it everything.
