Geek and Moss dove under branches, climbed over logs, and flew through bushes as they blazed their way back to the city. Geek had to admit, everything seemed ok, but nothing had gone his way since they first got here, so he was on guard. With every passing step, Geek got closer and closer to the city, and a hope of seeing Volt again sparked in him. Moss was close behind him, and he seemed pretty excited too. That made Geek flash back to the ruins. Back when Moss said that Geek was a human, along with Volt.

Suddenly, everything went dark. He was floating in an empty void, but was quickly replaced by an image. A long, dirt path surrounded by forest. Volt stood in front of him. He heard voices in the distance, then everything started clearing up. Finally, Geek could hear what was being said.

"See um, thing is, I'm not a Pokémon," Geek said to Volt.

"What?" Volt asked suddenly.

"I know it's weird, but, I'm a human. From the human world, and, I don't know anything about my past life, or why I'm here, or what's going on. Skitty was kind enough to take me in, but not even she or her family knows this deep secret," Geek explained.

Volt stood there, looking at him for a moment, then said three words that sent chills up Geek's spine.

"You're not alone," Volt said plainly.

"W-what?" Geek exclaimed.

"Heh, see, I'm a human too. Don't have any memories, but, I do remember one thing. There was another human sent to this world with me. I was given these scarves," Volt said as he pulled out two greenish black striped scarves from his bag, the same ones they wore now, "and the Pokémon who gave me them told me to give them to my closest friend when the time was right. Geek, you're my closest friend, and I think the time is right."

Everything returned to normal. He was running through the forest, but wasn't paying attention to his surroundings.

"Geek look out!" He heard Moss shouted as he slammed into a large branch that hung in the air.

Geek flipped over and landed on his back from the impact in the branch. Groaning in pain, Geek flipped to his side and saw Moss running over to him.

"Dude are you ok?" Moss asked as he helped Geek up.

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine..." Geek said almost blankly.

"What happened?" Moss asked, worry in his voice.

"I don't know," Geek replied as he shook his head, the image he had just seen still repeating in his mind.

"Did you," Moss began, "remember something?"

"I think I did," Geek said as he looked at Moss.

They both just stood in silence for a bit, but finally they both knew they needed to keep going. They checked to make sure Geek wasn't badly injured and moved on. Dashing down the path, they finally reached the edge of the forest. The vast plains beyond extended out, then dove down the small hill that blocked their view of the city. As soon as they got to the edge, Geek knew something was wrong. Smoke bellowed from beyond the hill. Geek and Moss exchanged worried glances, then dashed down towards the hill.

Once they got to the top of the hill, they saw the sun just behind the city. The city was on fire. Everything looked ruined, burnt down, and there were large pillars of flames rising even higher than the walls. Geek, forgetting about Moss, blazed towards the gate, which had been blown right open. He could hear Moss behind him yelling to wait, but he didn't care. He needed to see if everyone was ok. He needed to find out what was happening. When he flew through the gates, he looked around at the broken and abandoned streets. There was nobody. Not a single Pokemon trying to stop the raging flames.
