Geek and the others had blazed through this place. Shadow Pokemon were abundant, sure, but they were basically like punching bags. One hit and they were gone. Controlled Pokemon on the other hand, were a different story. They could take several large hits from Rayquaza and still keep going. Although, there were less of them than of Shadow Pokemon. The journey was tough, and Geek could tell just had badly Wraith was trying to keep them away. They had gotten nearly thirteen stories up, and there was still no sign of an exit. He wasn't just trying to keep them away. He was trying to wear them down.
Geek didn't give in. He knew everyone else felt the same way too. It was all the same to everyone. Wraith wanted this world gone, no matter what it took. Geek and the others, they may not have been Pokemon, but they had a mission. A goal. A promise. Something they needed to keep. Thinking about that, it gave Geek an even bigger boost to go further. They needed to win this. They needed to defeat Wraith, no matter what it took. No matter who was sacrificed now, if they could beat Wraith, it wouldn't matter. Everyone would be back to normal, and the world would return to it's natural state.
The team took twists and turns, left and right, higher and higher into the dungeon. As they progressed, it seemed like more and more Pokemon tried to stop them. Geek could almost feel the power that Wraith was using at the top to try and stop them. It just gave Geek an even higher want to push. They kept going. Battling at every turn, holding off as many as they could to get further. Higher, and closer to their ultimate goal. Geek looked at the many Pokemon caught in the spheres floating around the Realm. He looked at the outside world that was being slowly consumed by Wraith's ever growing Realm. This was really it.
It all rushed in memories that Geek had. Him and Volt, climbing this tall Realm together, fighting their way up to the top. So many challenges overcome, so many battles won, so many discoveries made, and then the final battle happened. Or what Geek thought was the final battle. Geek hoped that this was the final battle. The true one. The end of Wraith entirely. It was a huge gamble, but Geek wanted it to happen so bad. He hoped for it so much. More turns, more paths, more Shadow Pokemon, it was all just repetitive until they finally reached the exit.
As the team exited the dungeon, they came up to a large platform, and it was filled with Shadow Pokemon. Rayquaza cleaned it up real quick with a swift Dragon Ascent. But when the dust cleared, a few Shadow Pokemon still stood. The last Pokemon Geek wanted to see. The Pokemon he knew that if he saw, would shatter his will. Standing in front of him, was Lucario, Marowak, Gallade, Greninja, Victini, Wave, Volt, Tsunami, Cubone, Timburr, Eevee, and the worst of them all, Skitty. Everyone else got ready for a fight, but Geek just stood there, limp. He didn't want to fight them, even if he knew they weren't the originals. If they were here, then that meant they had all been taken. Geek felt his weakness and failures slowly rising up to the front again.
"Geek!" Drew's shout called Geek out of his thoughts momentarily.
"Geek we have to go!" Drew called.
"What?" Geek asked.
What did he mean we?
"Moss and the others will deal with these clones! We need to go face Wraith! You and me!" Drew explained.
Suddenly, Drew, the lovable Charmander, was a Pikachu. He was giving Geek that warm smile, and Geek smiled back once again. He heard Volt's voice again, calling out to him. The image vanished, and he was back in the dark and foreboding realm. Drew had grabbed his arm. Geek pulled back, but nodded and got ready to run. Above him and Drew the Legendary Pokemon flew forward and engaged the Shadow Pokemon. Moss and Auroras ran ahead of Geek and Drew, knocking away any clones that might try to get to them.
As they ran, Geek was suddenly tackled away. He landed on his back, and looked up to see Skitty. It was like he was back in Petal Town all over again, before any of this happened. The Shadow Skitty had Geek pinned, but he didn't care. He just wanted to be with everyone again. He just wanted everything to end, to calm down, to be back to the way it was. A voice called out. Drew again. Suddenly Auroras slammed into the Shadow Skitty and knocked her away. Geek was picked up, and Drew carried him all the way to the stairs. Once they got up those, the Shadow Pokemon wouldn't be able to get to them.
Drew threw Geek into the stairwell, and the two of them ran up the steps as fast as they could. Below, they could hear the sounds of battle becoming distant. One final sound hit Geek's ears. The sound of a Draining Orb attack being used. He closed his eyes and continued running, pushing out the thoughts that flooded his mind. They kept pushing. They finally reached a platform with nothing on it. From there, they could clearly see outside, they could see the endless rows of Pokemon trapped inside, and they could see the final platform way up above them, with Wraith's energy source radiating from it.
Drew was breathing hard, so Geek walked over to him and helped him up. The two looked at each other, and Geek once again felt a connection. A connection that he had once felt with Volt. This was it. This was their time. It may not have been Volt, but Geek could tell, him and Drew were meant to be together. All three of them were meant to be together. The warmth and happiness Drew gave off. The power and strength he possessed. The will and determination he shared with Geek. All of it mimicked Volt to a tee. Drew, Geek, and Volt.
"You ready for the last few steps?" Drew asked, still breathing heavily.
"Are you?" Geek threw back the question.
"Oh yeah."
They began walking up the steps. It was deja vu. Lots of it. Geek couldn't help but remember Volt and him in this exact same situation. This was it. After all of the running, all of the sadness, all of the failings, all of it, this was the final stand. This was the final battle between Geek and Wraith. Geek was going to win. He knew he was. Not just because he had Drew with him however, because he had to. He made a promise. Not just to Volt. Not just to Wave. Not just to Tsunami. Not just to any one Pokemon. He had made a promise, on that first day with the small team, that he would save ALL Pokemon from Wraith. This was for them. All of them. The final few steps were taken, and Geek stepped onto the large platform with Drew, looking right at their long waiting enemy.
"It's about time you arrived," Wraith said, his back still turned.
Worry echoed through his voice.
"I don't suppose you have any refreshments for your guests?" Drew asked as a joke.
"No. I don't. But, I can offer you one thing at least," Wraith replied as he turned around, a smile, hiding his true feelings, spread across is face, "I can grant you ETERNAL SLEEP."
