chapter 10

"You sure everything I will need is in here? "I asked Veronica.

"Yes sis. Now go enjoy your vac.I'll be done packing your wardrobe before you come back"

"I can see you love your job. Thanks Veronica"

I hugged her quickly before going out. Just on cue, Xavier arrived. We were both dressed in shorts for starters, where mine was a pair of mini shorts.

"Hello beautiful" he greeted before taking my things to the car.

"Good morning." before I could turn around, he spun me and placed a kiss lightly on my lips. Let's get going, so that we'll make it in time for breakfast."

I followed him to the car after we bade Veronica farewell.

"Is Damon going to be there?" she asked just as I turned to leave.

"Yeah. He's always been there"Xavier replied, before sitting in.

As we hit the road, I received a call from Ed, who I spoke to last night.

Ed: hey Mia. Have you already left?

Me: we just left

Ed: can I meet you guys up? You left something

Me: what?

Just tell Xavier to park the car

Me: ok

"Can you please park the car? Ed says I've left something"

In a few minutes Ed's motor parked by our car. I got out and went over to him.

"What is it that I've left? "I asked.

"This" he held up the necklace which had dad's initials on it"

I hugged him tightly and he pecked my forehead since he was taller.

"Now you go have fun"

I waved him goodbye and went back to Xavier. I wore the chain around my neck and looked at the CTG written on it. My father was an honorable man.

I slept throughout most of the journey. I woke up when he placed a soft kiss on my fore head.

"We're here"

As soon as I got out of the car, the cool breeze hit me, and almost immediately, Xavier covered me with his jacket. I stood in front of the beautiful house as some butlers took our suitcases in.

Xavier hugged me from behind.

"This house is really huge" I complimented

"Let's go inside. I'm starving"

He held on to my hand and together we walked into the house. He led us to the dining table, and I must say, I was happy Damon was here. At least there was someone I knew. I could identify Regina and Virginia. Virginia was sitting by Simone, and I spotted Damon sitting by a young gentleman. I could also see a warm and charming woman, who I could easily guess was Xavier's mum. He went over to hug her.

"Mum, this is my fiancee, Mia. Mia, my mum." Xavier said.

Mrs. McCarthy pulled me in for a hug, and I knew I was going to love having her as an in law.

"Hello Mrs. McCarthy"I said, shyly.

"Nonsense. Call me mum." She said with a smile. I sat in one of the two empty seats, which were in between Damon and Xavier's mum. I could see the head of the table wasn't present, and I was glad.
