Chapter 28

"You can't go picking fights whenever you feel like it, Virginia. We raised you better!" Mum yelled.

Mum, dad, Damon, Jacob, Daniella, Regina and I were seated in dad's living room an hour after the wedding.

The couple had long left, and believe it or not, I was actually happy for my brother. For the first time in his life he looked...Happy. Satisfied, of some sort.

"That man is a monster, mom. You all keep hating on Simone, yet you fail to remember that she is a product of two monsters."I replied. Two monsters I wish I could destroy with my bare hands.

"That doesn't give you the right to make a scene at your brother's wedding! Sometimes you've got to be thoughtful, Virginia. You aren't a child anymore. Do you know how many dignitaries were present? Your actions don't just destroy your reputation, young lady, but all of us as well. Every one of us have an image to uphold, baby. You've got to learn how to put a leash on your anger." Mum said, then took a seat by dad, whose silence was getting scarier by the moment.

He was usually the calm and collected type, a trait Xavier partially took. But when he gets angry, there is no lid, unless of course, it comes in the name of his beloved wife.

"Uncle,Aunt, Daniella and I will be taking our leave now" Jacob and Daniella gave both my dad and mum a peck. Jacob patted me on the back and Daniella pulled me in for a hug. Damon followed suit, leaving me to my fate.

I sighed in defeat. There was no doubt that we'd be on the news in less than twelve hours. Something we were all used to. What pissed the hell out of me was the usual additions they do. The untrue parts.

"I'm sorry dad. I just hate them so much, you know." I begged in one of my cutest voices.

"That is no excuse, Virginia." Dad replied. He still hadn't looked at me yet, which wasn't a good sign.

"Dad, I'm sorry but you've got to help Simone. Please" I begged once more. This time he stood up and walked over to his wine shelf, taking off his suit and loosening his tie in the process.

"Why what's wrong with her?" Regina asked, as she took off her heels. Mum had climbed up already.

"Her beast of a father is planning on marrying her off to some man she doesn't even know. All that man cares about is money! He doesn't give a damn about his wife or children."

"That's their problem, not ours." Dad replied, taking a sip of his drink.

"It's my problem as well. She's my best friend for crying out loud."

"That girl is only using you."

The wind begun blowing heavily and soon enough, droplets of water begun hitting the windows.

"Dad, I'm spending the night" Regina called out as she tapped away on her phone.

"I don't think you need my permission for that, and there's no way I'm going to allow you two to drive in the rain."

Mum descended the stairs in a pair of winnie the pooh pajamas, which made her look way younger than she was.

"Why, what's going on with Robert and his daughter?"

I informed her as well and her reply was no different from dad's. Just garnished.

"Come on, dad, please do something."

"And what can I do? Robert and I aren't exactly friends. Well, after today, thanks to you"

"I don't know, but just try anything." I put on my saddest face.
