chapter 11

We were all sitting at the pool side, as we played spin the bottle. I sat with Regina and Daniella on one side, whilst Virginia sat with Simone on the other side.

"First on my list is the 'I diss better than you' contest. We need two girls. Who'll go?"

Xavier jabbed me in the waist, signaling me to go for it.

"I will" I said.

"Well this will be interesting. Now take a paper from this bowl. The name on it shows who you'll compete against." Regina said. She took a bowl full of colored papers from behind and placed in front of me. A guy, almost Jake's height walked in, and almost immediately Regina got up and walked over to the guy and they smooched for quite some time. After a while, he sat in between Regina and I, and introduced himself as Justin.

"Will you mind doing me the favor?" I asked Xavier.

"Gladly" he replied and took out a paper. He opened it, then smirked.

"Well this will be interesting. Simone"

"Thanks dear, but I don't think I'll have to, since she's a diss to humanity" Simone said, and cheers erupted

"Self- description. I like that." I replied. They begun to laugh

"We aren't of same species, Mia. When humans are speaking, you shut up"

"Well I can't stop wondering what you're doing here, and why you are talking"

"I deserve to be here more than you do Mia."

"You are insulting everyone here indirectly"

Simone almost lounged at me and Xavier caught her in time.

"Don't let your emotions get the best of you Simone" he whispered through gritted teeth.

"Ok, how about some..... Swimming. Swimming can cool this tensed atmosphere" Regina announced and everyone agreed. I wondered if Veronica picked a swim wear for me. As I turned to go to my room for it, I saw Simone and Virginia discussing something. Immediately I knew they were planning something, so I decided not to join them. I felt a pair of strong arms wrap around my waist. I turned to face Xavier, and gave him a quick kiss before I spoke.

"I think I'm down with a head ache, so I might not join this swimming session. How about later? You and me" I suggested

"I'd love that, but are you sure you're ok, and it's not just Simone? Don't let her get to you"

"It has nothing to do with her, don't worry. Come on. Go have fun. I'll just have a short nap and wait for you"

"Should I come and keep you company?"

"Your sisters and cousins will kill me. Don't worry, I'm fine"

"Sure"

"Yes"

I kissed him again before walking away. I saw him take of his shirt and dive into the beach before I took off. As I walked to the elevator, I spotted a study, and I swear I could hear the sound of a violin. I sneaked into the room, and much to my surprise it was Mrs., McCarthy. I stood by the door way and watched her in admiration. The way she danced across the room reminded me of my childhood, when I used to play whenever I felt sad. The violin was my only source of joy. I realized that when she finished playing there were tears in my eyes as I clapped for her.

"That was beautiful Mrs. McCarthy" I commented

"It's Anna, dear. I heard you play"

"Well yes"
