Chapter 26

I have died everyday waiting for you

Darling don't be afraid, I have loved you

For a thousand years, I'll love you for a thousand more

All along I believed I will find you

Time has brought your heart to me

I have loved you

For a thousand years,

I'll love you for a thousand more.

I dabbed at my eyes as the song played. This was the best movie I'd ever watched. The only movie that drove me to tears every single time.

"Don't tell me you are watching Twilight again. Jeez. I'm beginning to hate the movie" Veronica yelled as she joined me in the couch.

"Xavier is going to kill me if he finds out you are watching tv at this time, especially the night before your wedding. Up. Get to your room." She sounded so much like mum. Before the illness.

I whined as she snatched the remote and turned off the television. Everyone was making a huge fuss about the wedding. The long awaited day was finally here. The whole day had been busy with last minute rehearsals and the arrangements. Veronica and Regina were determined to make it the wedding of the decade. Ever heard of  a night wedding? It had to be great. Xavier made sure I was never alone, and assured me he would get to the bottom of my almost-kidnap. It had been a week since, and I was tired of being babysitted. It frustrated the hell out of me that he wasn't telling me anything. He'd become a closed book since.

My wedding was a few hours away, and I hadn't spoken to my fiance in the past couple of days. There was no way I was going to my wedding with the silent treatment he was giving me.

"Roni, I need a favor."

"Veronica. Box on."

"I need you to drive me to Xavier's"

"Right now? You are aware it is almost midnight, right?"

"Yep. I know. But there is no way I'm getting married without finding out what the hell has been going on with him. Ever since my accident, he's become a different person.

Veronica looked like she knew something but kept her mouth shut.

"I do hope Simone wasn't invited to my wedding."

"I tried, but Mrs. McCarthy says despite the bad blood between her and your husband, she is still a family friend. You do know we can't decide for them who to invite, especially when it is her son paying for the wedding."

"I'm sure Xavier will understand when I tell him."

"He probably will, but from what Regina told me, if she wants something, she makes sure she gets it. I don't think you should argue it. Besides, she can't do anything with all the security Xavier has put in place."

I sighed in defeat. It was all I could do, after all.

"Come on. Let's get going before I change my mind. Grab a jacket."

.................

Xavier's POV

A few hours and I'd lose my bachelor degree to a beautiful woman. A woman whose smile put the stars out of place in the night sky. A woman who had me facing a raging hard on just at the thought of her. A woman I couldn't wait to claim. I should be asleep, but I had to make sure no one made an noves to destroy our big day, which was why I was still seated in my office after midnight.
