Chapter 29

Music hit my ears before I could even register what time it was. I could literally feel the warm rays sunlight piercing through my eyelids. Back at home I usually woke up to my alarm clock. No sunlight drama. Veronica only opened my windows once to wake me up, and that was yesterday morning. On Xavier's request. Xavier. A blush crept up my cheeks as I remembered the best night of my life. I hadn't experienced good sex in a long while. I was still sore after four rounds through the night and sleeping in was my ideal plan for the day. I pulled up the covers to my neck with all determination to sleep again.

Well, that was before Xavier walked in shirtless with a full tray in one hand, and a mug of coffee in the other. My throat became dry, and I wasn't too sure what I was thirsty for. The coffee or the man. After all, there's no problem with having both since they were both mine.

"Good morning beautiful" His smile was enough to make my day. He put the tray down and captured my lips with his. Day one of Mrs. McCarthy felt good already.

"Good morning, husband." I replied, taking the tray from him. A plate of strips of bacon, toasts, an omelet, sausages and vegetables stared at me, and a piece of folded paper sat beneath it. I took it out first and read it out loud.

"For the most beautiful woman I know...-X"

"This is sweet of you, Xavier. Thanks"

"I was expecting a you know, babe? But no worries. Eventually it will come. Anyways. How was your night?" He hopped on the bed and scooted closer, a few inches away from me.

"Perfect, although I'm a little sore" I replied in a low voice, however little was the understatement of the year. I could still feel him there. It was bound to happen after four times anyways.

"It will get better. Want me to examine it for you?" He whispered with a teasing tone. I pushed him away which erupted barks of laughter from him.

"What's the plan for today?" I asked, as he fed me.

" Well, I figured we could stay in bed all day, then we'll head out to lunch. Roam town a little, and then head to carnival or something later in the evening. What do you think?"

I put the tray aside, already satisfied. The bed creaked as I moved up to be closer to Xavier. The sea looked wonderful with the rays of sunlight falling on it from a perfect angle. It reminded me of sometime long ago when dad took me to the seaside.  Apparently, it was where he first met mom.

"Sure thing. I'm too lazy to get up this early, especially during my honeymoon."

Xavier picked up the tv remote from the nightstand and turned on the tv. It was no surprise that our wedding was being aired. After all, I was getting married to one of the richest men in the world. What caught my attention however was Virginia, who seemed to be in a fight with an older man.

"Who is that? "I asked as  Xavier picked up a fruit from my tray and popped it in his mouth.

"Simone's father. Robert. He isn't a really nice man. I think he did something to Simone. Virginia doesn't lose her shit that easily." He replied, his eyes still on the screen.

" You seem to get along better with Regina than Virginia." I  turned to look at him.

" I get along with both of them. Virginia is, well , very selective of who she opens up to, you know. She likes to mind her own business whilst Regina is the type who is always ready to talk, and listen. Growing up, I've been groomed all my life, and I barely got the chance to be free like they are."
