Cruel Summer- Bananarama-'84

After returning to Hoover High that Monday it had been anything but quiet. Rumors were spreading like wild fire about both Stef and Lena even trickling down to the teachers. Stef was beginning to wonder if someone had seen them all those times at the beach and spilled to Tess for it was the only thing she could think of. But in all honesty she was hurt that her friend would go this far.  That she would be so petty and stab her in the back like this along with her cousin. Was it really fuckin' necessary? Sure she could handle it herself along with the jokes people were throwing at her but she worried about Lena. She worried because she promised to protect her and she was doing anything but that right now. Of course Lena did not see it that way for she knew Stef protected her and she intern wanted to protect her as well no matter what. Her love for her girlfriend was strong no matter what the consequence were. Unlike in Ohio Lena was not crying, she was not hiding she was holding her head up high no matter what people were calling her as her and Stef exchanged notes all day in the halls and during class. However in a few classes the teachers had changed their seats moving them away from each other, they were no longer lab partners,  and while in gym class the girls teased Lena and covered themselves joking that she was probably staring at them and wanted them.

"Come on we know how she is. Probably checking all of us out." They laughed as Lena shook her head and quickly got dressed.

"Yeah let's get dressed fast who knows she might make a move on us. Freaking lesbo."

"Don't worry I won't make a move on you besides you're not my type anyway." Lena said walking away as the girls shook there heads.

Stef was dealing with her own fair share of it for a girl had pushed her during ball practice claiming Stef touched her.

"Get off me you freaking dyke!" The girl said turning around as Stef moved closer to her feeling her anger.

"What the fuck! I didn't touch your ass!

"Yeah right I felt it!"

"You didn't feel shit! I was trying to block the ball dumb ass!"

"What is going on girls." Coach Morrison asked running over and seeing the escalation.

"Well you know how she is, she touched my ass coach."

"I didn't fucking touch you heifer!"

"Language Cooper!"

"I know what felt!"

"Sit out Cooper."

"What why? I didn't do shit but try to block the fucking ball! I didn't touch that skanks ass!"

"Language! I won't tell you again or your benched until Christmas break is over."

"Fuck this! This is bull!" She said throwing the ball and heading to her locker room where she kicked it so hard she left a dent.

"Cooper you're benched!"

Of course Mike was hearing the rumors too but wasn't surprised as he approached his friend who he could see was fuming. Earlier he had ran into Lena letting her know he would support her and Stef if needed. Despite his intense crush on the blonde he didn't want anything bad to happen to either of them.

"You ok Stef? I mean anything I can do?"

"No. I'm fine. Just fucked up rumors that will blow over. Let em say what they want. Fucking assholes." she lied tossing another book in.
