Just a Dream

Some humans do believe in fairies, some do not. But whatever perspective humans have, they never had concrete understanding about fairies’ belief regarding humans.

We usually believe that fairies are oblivious about us—that they have their own world—and that they’re too afraid to go near us because of their ignorance.

What if it is the other way around? What if the fairies are the one who know a lot about humans and humans are the one who are clueless all along?

“Can you do the library chores today?” Rosetta asked, smiling at her wider than she usually does. It made Noreale stop brushing her golden brown wavy hair.

“In exchange of what?” Norelae responded quickly, her gray eyes fixed on Rosetta.

“Knowledge. I swear you’ll learn from the books I’ll share to you.” She offered but Norelae has read all the books in the library making her refuse to the offer.

“I have load of works to do, I’m sorry.” She turned back and flew away from the librarian.

As her wings bring her higher, she felt the light that escapes from the top of the tree. Every time it touches her face, she feels the urge of going out of their realm, the Breena, which is the biggest tree that stands in the backyard.

But the countless times she tried were also the number of times she failed. She cannot go out, no one can, and no one should. It is an order from the Queen of the fairies, Queen Rhiannon.

“Ugh.” She gasped as she bumped into a branch. Drown in her thoughts; she did not notice that she’s already at the peak of the realm. And now, she is more tempted than she was ever before.

To go or not to go? She asked herself but nothing could answer her but the desire in her heart.

“I feel so free!” She screamed blissfully as she plays frantically, like a wild animal freed from its cage. Few minutes after feeling her new surroundings, she put down herself and walked on the grounds, and then she stopped.

There was a strange thing in front of her and she feels dim-witted not recognizing what it is. She had read all the books in their library, and being clueless about this makes her feel ridiculous. What is this object with different colors and is fixed with white rope? She doesn’t know.

“Woah.” Norelae exclaimed in awe when the object moved slightly. She was so confused how the object moves so she looked up, only to see a fairy like her…

“Wait, no. You’re a monster!” She shouted, all her efforts exerted. With that, she got the attention of the ‘monster’ that wears the strange thing.

“I’m not a monster.” He uttered softly, amazed with what he saw. He moved closer to Norelae— tyring to see the details of her small figure. “I’m a human.” He added, still dumbfounded. Few seconds later after digesting who he was talking to, his eyes grew bigger than it did before.

“You’re… You’re a fairy! Don’t go near me. I’m begging you. Please, don’t hurt me.” If Norelae knows about the difference of guys and gays, she would consider this man one of the gays.

“No, no. I’m not going to hurt you. I am not harmful.” She explained. “You said before that you’re a human.”

“Y-Yes, I am.” He answered, still uneasy.
