Chapter Sixteen - Clarification
Chloe's POV
I woke up in my own bed surprisingly. There was no sign of Wes. I stood up and got out of bed to go eat breakfast. As soon as my feet hit the floor I pretty much ran into the wall. I regained my balance and realized that I had a bad headache. I don't really remember anything after that fifth drink last night. I do remember getting a little more drunk than I planned.
I walked downstairs into the kitchen and rubbed the sleep from my eyes. I started pouring myself a bowl of cereal and a glass of orange juice when Austin walked downstairs.
"Morning sleeping beauty," I said sarcastically, looking at his messy morning hair and bags under his eyes.
"Shut up," he grumbled.
"I bet you had a good night last night," I said eating a spoonful of Life.
"Yeah, same with you I'm guessing?" He asked, now clearly a little annoyed.
"I wasn't there for long," I said nervously, leaving out the words I think.
"Long enough to start grinding with Wes, eh?" He said raising his eyebrows. I sat up straighter and chewed slowly.
"And...?" I said with a straight face, not caring if he knew or not.
"You're my sister and he's my best friend, pretty much the brother I never had. Just stop whatever is going on before it gets out of hand." What? "I don't want you two messing up each other's lives, I know how both of you are in relationships." What's that supposed to mean?
"We were just having some fun, chill out dude," I said.
"Just don't get too friendly with him," he said grabbing a bowl from the cupboard. I finished my bowl and put my dishes in the sink. I went back up to my room and checked my phone. When I did my eyes widened at it. I had 13 missed calls and plenty missed texts. I decided to look at the gets first.
Wes The Best - Where are you?
Wes The Best - Nothing happened I swear
Wes The Best - Babe answer me
Wes The Best - Where did you go?
Wes The Best - Please come back
HailBail - What happened last night? What did he do? Do I need to break someone's jaw?
HailBail - Chloe answer me
Lynnie - Listen to Wes please, he's not lying
Lynnie - Please call Wes back he's worried sick
Unknown Number - Call me as soon as you wake up. It's Drew.
KeaterPan - I know you probably think my brother is a dick but please just call him back
KeaterPan - Wes is freaking out, please call back
I frowned to myself in confusion. What was going on? I don't really remember most of last night. I decided to call Hailey first since she was with me almost the whole time. She answered after a few rings.
"Chloe, what's going on?" She asked frantically.
"You tell me! Wes wouldn't stop texting me last night I guess, Drew said he can explain, Keaton said Wes is creaking out right now, and Lynn's telling me to call Wes back," I said running my hand through my hair.
"Call Keaton first. He's his brother so he should know," she said.
"Ok, thanks. Talk to you later," I said.
"Bye," she said before I hung up. I dialed Keaton's number and he answered quickly.
"Chloe?"
"Hey, Keats, what's going on?"
"I don't know the whole story, but Wes is freaking out right now. I guess... call Drew, he knows the whole story," he said. I groaned.
"Fine. Thanks anyways," I said.
"Bye," he said hanging up. I sighed before calling Drew.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Drew, it's Chloe," I said.
"Oh, hey."
"You, uh, told me to call you...?"
"Have you talked to Wes yet?" He asked me.
"No."
"Oh," the line goes silent for a while.
"Drew, what's going on? Keaton said you know the whole story and apparently Wes is freaking out and I don't know what'd going on."
"You don't remember?" I didn't say anything back... remember what? "You thought Wes cheated on you." My stomach drops but before I can say anything Drew frantically speaks up again. "He didn't though, just to let you know."
"Well what happened?"
"One of his exes was cornering him or some shit like that and you got mad so you asked Hailey and I to take you home. Well just me, Hailey kinda passed out," he said.
"Oh, ok," I said quietly.
"But you should probably call Wes back, he is really freaking out," he said.
"Ok, thanks Drew."
"Bye."
I hung up and sighed heavily before calling Wes back. He answered on the first ring.
"Chlo? Oh my god I'm so sorry but I swear nothing happened between us and she was just being a bitch and I couldn't get away and I tried to explain but-"
"Wes, it's fine," I cut him off.
"You're not mad at me?"
"No, Drew kinda cleared things up."
"Thank god," he sighed out. "I'm still really sorry."
"Don't be, it wasn't your fault," I assured him. The line was silent before he spoke up again.
"So, uh, the boys and I have a gig tonight..." he started. He almost sounded nervous and I held back a laugh.
"Go on," I said laying back on my bed.
"I was wondering if you wanted to come to watch. I mean, you don't have to if you don't want to but if you do, I mean-"
"Calm down Wes, I'd love to come," I said laughing.
"Ok, cool. There's one thing about it though..."
"What's that?"
"You're gonna have to sneak out."
"Why?"
"It's a midnight gig, they do one every month at this one place and they chose us for this month. Austin and Maria don't really know about it," he said and I could practically hear the smirk in his voice.
"They don't?"
"Nope."
"Sweet," I said making us both laugh.
"So, you up for it?" He asked me. I thought about it for a second before deciding.
"Totally.
