Chapter One - Goodbye and Hello

Chloe's POV

I grabbed my backpack, strapped my skateboard on, pulled it onto my back, grabbed the handle of my last suitcase and walked downstairs out of my small house in Miami, Florida. I was going to miss the little place, but I was excited to see my older brother.

For the plane ride, I had on some dark wash denim shorts, a black flowy T-shirt crop top, my red Vans, my Miami heat SnapBack on backwards and some aviators. I straightened my hair like I usually do and put on mascara. I wrapped my beats around my neck.

I walked out of the front door and started walking down the driveway, where my mom, stepdad, Jacob and my best friend Luke stood by Luke's car. He was giving me a ride to the airport. I gave them a sad smile before putting my last of three suitcases into the trunk of his jeep.

"Don't forget to come back," my mom said wrapping me in a hug.

"I won't," I said smiling. I walked over to Chris.

"Hang in there kid, I'll ship your surfboard out in a few days," he said hugging me.

"Thanks Chris," I said hugging him back.

My dad disappeared when I was 6 years old. Austin took care of me and Jacob with my mom until my mom got remarried. When she did, and Austin felt comfortable with us being alone, he moved to Huntington Beach, California.

"I'll miss you," Jacob said hugging me.

"I'll miss you more. Here, I got you something," I said pulling off my backpack. I pulled out some new glow in the dark skateboard wheels I got for him.

"Cool! Thanks Chlo," he said grinning.

"No problem," I said hugging him one more time before getting in the car.

"Oh and Jacob?" I said before closing the door.

"Yeah?"

"Don't go in my room," I teased, smirking. He smiled and laughed before waving bye with my mom and Chris. Luke started driving to the airport.

"How long are you gonna be gone?" He asked pulling into the highway.

"I'll be back some time in the middle of August," I said. I was leaving on June 7, that's more than two months.

"That's a long time," Luke sighed.

"I'm sure you'll find some way to not be missing my bitchyness," I joked.

"You're probably right," he said smirking. I punched his shoulder and he laughed.

We got to the airport and he parked in the parking lot. We went through the ticket paying thingie and Luke even got a ticket to walk me to the gate through security. We went through security and walked to our gate with half an hour to spare.

We played games on his iPad the whole time. When they finally started boarding I got in line with my backpack in my shoulders and my iPhone and money in my pocket. When it was almost my turn to board I turned to Luke and sighed.

"So this is goodbye?" He asked holding out his arms.

"No silly, you're acting like I'm moving there," I said hugging him.

"Ohhh, I'm gonna miss your bitchyness," he joked, rocking me. I laughed and pulled away.

"Everyone does," I joked back.

"Don't fall in love and never come back," he warned.

"Love is overrated," I said pshhing. He laughed and did our little handshake.

"Bye Ms. Bitchyness," he said smirking.

"Bye Mr. Miami," I said saluting him. He laughed and hugged me one more time before I turned around and they checked my ticket. I looked back behind me and waved to Luke before walking down the runway.

I boarded the plane and sat in a window seat in the front. I put my backpack with my skateboard clipped on it up in the compartment ad sat down in my seat. I put my red and black Beats on which were wrapped around my neck and plugged in my iPhone. I leaned back and looked out the window seeing Luke in the big window by my gate. I sighed, wishing he could see me so I could wave one more time. I was gonna miss my best friend.

I woke up from the 4 1/2 hour flight right before we landed. I yawned, stretched and pulled my beats off and back on my neck. As soon as we landed I stood up and waited to get out. When I did, I reached up and grabbed my backpack and skateboard. I lifted it on my back and started walking off the plane.

As soon as I got out of the runway I spotted my brother. He was hard to miss. He's attractive, tall, obnoxious. He waved to me and I ran and hugged him.

"Ah, I've missed you!" He said hugging me back.

"I missed you too!" I said letting go.

"Come on, let's get out of this airport," he said walking towards the exit.

"Austin my bags!" I called after him.

"Oh right," he said walking the other way. I laughed and we went to baggage claim and picked up my suitcases. We walked out to his convertible and put my bags in the back. We got in and he started driving to his house.

"So how's Miami?" He asked.

"Pretty good, waves are nice, they just put up a sick skateboarding park that they've been working on for months," I said rolling down the window.

"You know people are going to hate you for wearing that hat," he said looking at my SnapBack.

"Well fuck them," I said shrugging. Austin chuckled and shook his head.

We talked about Florida and California on the ride down from L.A. to Huntington Beach. When we got to his house I walked in and looked around. There was a kitchen right to the left when you walk in, and passed that farther to the left was the living room. Straight in front of the door were the stairs to upstairs and to the right was a bathroom. Across from the kitchen was a hall which I didn't now what went to where.

"This is pretty nice," I commented.

"Thanks, Maria helped me pick it out," he admitted laughing.

"Where's my room?" I asked turning back around to face him.

"Upstairs, turn left to walk down the hall and it's the last door on the left. I thought I'd give you the window looking out on the ocean," he said winking.

"Sweet!" I yelled happily.

"I'll be up in a second, I'm just gonna grab your other bags," he said walking out. I turned around and smiled, happy to be here for the whole summer, spending it with my brother.
