Chapter Four - Stories
Chloe's POV
I woke up with the sun streaming through the window and onto my face. I groaned and turned around to get away from it but it didn't help. I tried putting my pillow over my head but then I couldn't breathe. I sighed in frustration and sat up.
Wesley must've left already because the couch was back into a couch and he wasn't there. I got up and took a 5 minute shower, putting on black yoga pants with a pink fold over on top that said 'PINK' I white letters and a blue flowy crop top that had palm trees on it. I put my hair in a messy bun and walked downstairs.
There was a note on the kitchen island. I walked over and grabbed a yogurt. I opened it and started eating it while reading the note.
Hey Chloe,
I had to go to school today, sorry. I'll be home around 3:30ish. There's food in the fridge, tv in the living room, I think you're set to go ;) I still have your penny boards in the garage, there's a white one, a pink one and a blue one. You can use mine if you want too, it's the green one. Don't burn the house down please, Marie would kill me
-Austin
I laughed at his note and finished my yogurt. I threw away the container and out the spoon in the sink. I was on my way to the stairs when the doorbell rang. I walked to the door, opened it and found Wesley standing on the steps.
"Wesley? Austin's not here today, he has school," I said laughing.
"What, am I not allowed to hang out with you?" He asked smirking.
"I guess not," I shrugged, letting him in.
"So what are you doing today?" He said jumping on the kitchen island.
"Nothing planned, what about you?"
"Well, we could go back to my place and I could tell you stories of the X Factor and the band," he suggested, smirking again.
"Sure, let me go change," I said running upstairs to change.
I put on a plain, red, tank top crop top that tied in the front, black, frayed, studded shorts, black Vans and my Miami heat SnapBack. I brushed and straightened my hair like usual, brushed my teeth and out mascara on. I grabbed a $20 and my phone and ran back downstairs.
"Ready," I sighed.
"You're definitely not a girly girl are you?" Wesley commented jumping down from the counter.
"Nope, not at all. I'm gonna penny board there, you wanna borrow one?" I asked walking to the garage.
"No, that's how I got here," he said smirking.
"Oh, well I'll meet you out front then," I said walking into the garage. I grabbed my white penny board and walked out the garage door to Wes.
"Ready?" He asked.
"Yup," I said skillfully throwing my penny board ahead of me and jumping on.
"Show off," Wesley said behind me. I laughed and we skateboarded to his house.
It only took a couple minutes to reach Wesley's house. I beat him there and waited for him on his doorstep. He pulled up next to me laughing and opened him door. We walked in and put our boards in the doorway. It was light and airy, which honestly surprised me by his first impression to me. We walked to the couch and sat cross legged facing each other.
"So, where do I start?" He asked himself.
"Tell me things that happened before the X Factor," I said putting my elbows on my knees and resting my head in the palms of my hands.
"Ok, well Keaton and I grew up in Sequim Washington, and Drew. All of us snowboard, which was pretty sick and I definitely miss the hills we used to board down. Some of them were crazy, like Mt. Baker, man that was one ride... am I off topic?" He asked me smiling. I laughed and he continued. "We all moved here when I was 15, Keaton was 13 and Drew was 17. We auditioned for the X Factor when Keaton was 15, I was 17 and Drew was 19. We made it into the final four until we were eliminated, but we got a record deal and just started making music from there. We have one album out already and one single."
"Wow, so you're pretty serious about it," I guessed.
"As serious as I am about peanut butter," he joked. I have him a weird look and he laughed.
"What about you? How'd you get all famous and shit?" He asked copying my position.
"Well, when I was 7 I got my first longboard. I used to longboard down the boardwalk on the beach outside my house. When I was 9 I got my first penny board, and then when I was 10 I got my first skateboard. I started learning tricks on my skateboard, and spent all my money I got from allowance on a helmet, elbow pads and knee pads, trucks, wheels, the whole damn shebang. I would cruise around all day on my longboard or penny board and then after the sun went down and the boardwalk was clear of people, I would sneak out of the house and practice tricks on my skateboard. I guess being that committed payed off and now I'm here on the cover of one of the most popular skateboarding magazines," I said clapping my hands on my knees.
"That's quite a story," Wesley said smirking.
"Yeah, so when did you learn how to surf?" I asked.
"As soon as I moved here. What about you?"
"As soon as I got a surfboard," I admitted causing both of us to laugh. "I probably started when I was 14."
"Cool," he said smiling. I nodded and there was a comfortable silence between us until his stomach grumbled. We laughed and he stood up.
"I'm gonna order some pizza, what do you like?" He asked grabbing the phone.
"Sausage. Don't you need their number?" I asked standing up.
"For pizza?"
"Yeah."
"I have them on speed dial," he said winking at me. I laughed and sat a stool by the kitchen island while he ordered.
The food got here 15 minutes later. We ate the entire box of pizza while watching a comedy. At 3:15 I got a call from Austin.
"Hello?"
"Where are you?" He asked through the phone.
"At Wesley's place, he stopped by earlier today to see if I wanted to hang with him," I said rolling my eyes at Austin go Wesley. He laughed quietly.
"Ok well there's a special package waiting for you on the doorstep, and it's pretty big."
"My surfboards here?!" I gasped.
"I think..."
"Yay, now I don't have to use yours anymore, I'm on my way!" I said jumping up. I hung up and turned to Wesley.
"I'll see you later?" I asked. He stood up.
"Yeah, soon," he said smirking. I bit the inside of my lip.
"Cool, bye," I said waving.
"Wait," Wesley said stopping me.
"Yeah?" I asked turning back around. He walked up to me and wrapped his arms around me, pulling me in a tight hug. I giggled slightly and hugged him back.
"Um, bye," he said awkwardly and pulling away.
"Bye," I said walking out the door.
