Chapter Eighteen - Busted
Chloe's POV
The midnight gig was amazing. The fans honestly made the night a hell of a lot better, you could just see how much support they were getting from them. The guys' voices are incredible, and I don't know how Drew does that.
Speaking of that, I did hear the single they were talking about. What a nice surprise, a song named after me, not really, even though I didn't know it. And it wasn't really after me anyways, I don't have a sister.
After the gig was over the boys ran backstage to see us girls. We congratulated them on what an amazing gig it was and talked for a while. Around three in the morning we decided to head back home since it was getting late (early?).
The drive back with Wes was almost silent except for him humming along to the songs on the radio. Only a few minutes into the drive I fell asleep, curled into a ball in the uncomfortable car seat.
I woke up to an unfamiliar room and an unfamiliar bed. I rolled over and reached out for my phone blindly. I turned it on and checked the time before I actually got up.
2:48 pm
I shot out of the bed and opened the door, going downstairs to the living room. Wes was knocked out on the couch with the blankets half off of him. I smiled to myself before kneeling in front of him and shaking him lightly. He groaned and opened his eyes tiredly.
"You look hot," he said sarcastically in his raspy morning voice. I rolled my eyes at him. "Now you're supposed to say I look hot too."
"I don't lie," I snickered. He rolled his eyes back at me and sat up stretching.
"What time is it?" He asked me yawning.
"Almost three. Pm," I added.
"Holy shit," he mumbled. I heard my phone go off and Wes and I both looked at each other with nervous looks before I raced upstairs. I picked up on the last ring.
"Hello?"
"Where the hell are you?!" Austin yelled through the phone.
"Uh-"
"Don't even answer it, I'm coming now," he said hanging up. I sighed before understanding what he meant.
"Wes!" I yelled running back downstairs.
"What's wrong?" He asked worriedly.
"I gotta go now," I said hastily picking up my things which were in the living room for some reason.
"Slow down, look at me," Wes said stopping me. I sighed and looked up at him. "What's wrong?"
"Austin called me. He was asking where I was and before I could even answer he said he was on his way over. So obviously he knows something's up otherwise he wouldn't know to come here," I said biting my lip fearfully.
"Well, let's just prepare for it," Wes said sighing loudly.
"How? He's gonna be so pissed at both of us-"
My rambling was cut off by a knock at the front door. I exchanged a look between Wes before he stood up to answer it. When he opened the door Austin came storming in and walked straight to me.
"Do you have any idea how worried I've been?!" He said angrily. Wait, what?
"What?" I asked confused.
"I wake up, you're not in your room, you're not in the house, you don't answer my calls or texts until that afternoon, Chloe come on!"
"Ok, ok, just calm down. You know where I am now and that's all that matters right?"
"Yeah, ok," he said calming down.
"Anyways, I was skateboarding all day," I lied.
"Your skateboards at home."
"I have more than one skateboard."
"Your favorite skateboarding Vans are at home."
"I was testing out my new ones."
"Your helmet is at home."
"Jesus Christ, Austin, would you lay off? I'm not a baby, ok?" I said a little more harsher than I intended.
"Alright, alright. Why did you end up here then?" He asked me.
"His house was the closest house and I needed a drink of water," I lied again.
"Ok, one more question," he said.
"You sure you're not interviewing her for a job?" Wes joked. Austin chuckled but then looked at me seriously.
"Why are you wearing Wes's clothes?" He asked me. I tensed up and bit the inside of my cheek. I looked at Wes for help but he just shrugged with wide eyes.
"Uh, I fell and ripped my jeans so he gave me a pair of sweatpants," I said.
"You fell?" Austin asked unbelievably.
"Yeah, pros make mistakes too, calm your titties," I said lightening the mood. Austin laughed.
"Alright, but I'm still confused," he admitted.
"What now?" I groaned sarcastically.
"I'm just confused why you're leaving out the most important part," he said raising his eyebrows.
"And that is..." I said confused now.
"The fact that you snuck out of the house last night with Wes to go to a gig at midnight and then spent the night over at his place," he said a little angrier now. "And lied about it."
"Uh," I muttered, not able to say anything else. Wes bit his lip awkwardly.
"Ok, I'm sorry I lied about it to you, I just didn't want you to get mad. And I know me wearing his clothes looks pretty bad, nothing happened. I actually just took these out of his drawer and put them on this morning," I said honestly, earning a scowl from Wes.
"It's fine, I should get going anyways. And I shouldn't be worried, it's not like you two are dating," he said standing up and laughing. Wes and I awkwardly chuckled with him.
"What was that about?" He asked eyeing Wes and I.
"What was what about?" I said too quickly.
"What did you guys just do?"
"We didn't do anything," I said too quickly again. Austin looked between Wes and I and friends in confusion.
"What's going on?" He asked us. I looked over at Wes and saw his jaw was clenched and his lips were pushed together. But before I said anything to Austin to make him think nothing was happening he spoke before me.
"Austin, I'm dating your sister."
