=======================

You really couldn't believe it.  Three years as a neighbour to your hero Markiplier.  It was truly amazing, honestly, and you were great friends with him and the gang.  You trusted him so much, you could tell him all your secrets.

Well, except one.

There was one thing he couldn't know, ever.  There was something in your DNA that had mutated when you were born; the gene that allowed your hair and nails to grow transformed into something much more adaptable.  You could now just change into any person or animal you wanted.

But it wasn't something you wanted to brag about.  As soon as the doctor who helped your mother give birth to you notice something was off, the authorities immediately busted in, trying to take you for experimentation.  Your mother and father fought hard to save you, and it costed them their lives.  And you hid it ever since.  You were a ghost, in all context: you couldn't exist.  You didn't.

And you were planning to keep it that way.  Mark would never know your secret.  You would take it to your grave, and no one would ever have to deal with it ever again.

Ding!

"Coming!" you called, hurrying to the door after you just head the doorbell ring.  You opened it, and saw Mark with his head down. "Hey, Mark!  What's up?" you asked.  Your neighbour didn't reply, but instead just simply raised his head.

"I'm not exactly Mark, sweetheart," he smiled.  No, no he wasn't.  This Mark had black eyes and a wicked smile.  And not the good wicked.

"Who are you?" you whimpered, backing away.

"Name's Dark, boo," he answered, leaning on your doorframe with his arms crossed. "And I'm borrowing the guy's body for a bit.  You don't mind, do you?"

"Mark, this is some weird joke.  It's not Halloween yet, is it?" you asked, looking around nervously.

"Not yet, no.  Sadly.  But I just wanted to ask for a favour," he explained.

"And what favour would that be?"

"Well, now you know Mark's little secret.  A demon living inside him.  Me, of course." His smile widened as he walked through the threshold of your house. "Now, you tell me more about yours."

Your eyes widened as you instantly realized that this demon- Dark- knew about your abilities.  What was he going to do?  Kill you?  Torture you?  Bring you to the government?

Terrified, you turned into a small cat, and ran deeper into your house, away from the intruder you now no longer knew.

"I don't want to hurt you, (Y/N)," Dark called looking through the house for you while you ran behind a cupboard and covered your head.  You could hear his footsteps echo through the halls.

"Ah... found you little one," he whispered as you saw a shadow cover you. You were cornered, and helpless to do anything as he picked you up tightly, yet not hard enough to hurt you. You yowled for help, but only got out a little squeak. Why didn't you turn into a bear or something?

"Don't be shy, (Y/N). I told you, I won't hurt you. You just intrigue me so," he murmured, and started petting you between your ears. You couldn't help but like that, and started purring with content. "Aw, does the kitten like this?"

You couldn't help but purr again, and lean into his touch. He was so gentle when he ran his warm fingers through your fur. Soon enough, before you knew it, you had fallen asleep, tucked away in his arms.

When you woke up, you found that you were still in cat form, yet you were not drugged, bound, or gagged in any way. Strange.

You turned back into a human, rubbing your head. After a few minutes of wondering what just happened, you looked around your surroundings. You were in Mark's house!

I have to get out before he finds me here, you thought to yourself, and walked to the door, but just before you could reach out to the handle, Mark walked in the room.

"Hey, (Y/N). I thought I heard footsteps," he smiled. "How did you get in? And have you seen a cat? I swear it was just sleeping on my couch a moment ago...."

"Uh... yeah actually," you giggled, and said, "Your door was unlocked, and I wanted to check up on you. The cat ran out as soon as I opened the door."

"Oh. That's a shame," he shrugged. "But I suppose it's for the best, considering Chica and all."

"You never know, those two could've been the best of friends," you smirked, watching the retriever bound towards you, wagging her tail joyfully.

I'm sorry this was shorter than usual. Some of you guys might know, but I had a little bit of a breakdown. Everything's all better, though, for the most part, but I want to thank all of you for all the kind words you gave to me. I took screenshots. Unfortunately, I saw all these comments just a few hours ago, as I've been on a little bit of a break. No Wattpad, no YouTube, for three days. More for my sanity than anything else. So, I missed comments and updates. That means that if you might have requested something, I might've missed it, so if you would be so kind, could you maybe write it again, or PM me? Something like that, just so I don't miss it.

I'm just slowly getting back into this whole thing, and I actually have a major headache right now. ^-^' I might be on and off for a little while, and by on and off, I mean on for a few days and off for a few. It depends on my mood.

Again, thanks for understanding, I guess.
