"Bye, Auntie Zoza!" My nephew, Matt, says right before I leave the kitchen for school.

"Bye, Matty." I say.

"Bye, Auntie Zowa." Mason, my other nephew, mutters rubbing his eyes and clinging onto my brother. Matt (Mathew was his legal name but we only called him that when he was in trouble) and Mason were twins. They were my brother's kids. Matt had green eyes, like his mom, and spiky brown hair as Mason had big brown eyes and silky brown hair. They both got their brown hair from Bexley's side of the family.

"Bye, Masey." I tell him before waving to my brother, Jax, and his wife, Bexley. I walk out of the kitchen and then out the front door. I pull the sleeves of my sweatshirt down over my hands when the cold October air hits me. I pull my phone from my pocket and plug my earbuds into it. After putting my earbuds in my ears I start my walk to school.

After a few minutes I reach the school.

"Hey Mr. A!" I say to Bexley's dad who was still the football coach. I've known him as Mr. A my whole life. He's like a dad to me. Jax still calls him Coach as well as Blake, who yes, was still friends with Bexley and Jax and was now married to Ally, Bexley's best friend.

"Good Morning, Zola." He says back waving at me before going back to whatever he was doing. I walk through the front doors and go towards my locker. I pull out my earbuds and put them and my phone in my bag. I open my locker and put my backpack inside.

"Hey, Z." My best friend Amanda says coming up to me.

"Hey, Manda." I say glancing at her. The first bell rings and I grab my English book out of my locker.

"See ya." I wave at my friend before going to class. Apparently I wasn't watching where I was going because I bump into something. I fall on the floor and drop my books.

"Ow." I mutter under my breath looking up to see what I bumped into. That 'what' turned out to be a 'who'.

"Watch where you're going, Nerd." A guy I sadly recognize says walking past me.

Jerk.

A jerk I know as Alec Lawson. He was Mr. Popular. He was the star quarterback

I grab my book before standing up. I hurry to class. I have been scared of being late to class since middle school when we first started to have the bell and passing periods.

I get to class and sit in my seat in the middle row as the bell rings. I sigh in relief before opening my book to the number written on the board. Our instructions were to read pages 136-140.

I was one page 139 when the door flung open and someone walks in.

"Mr. Lawson, glad you decided to join us." Our teacher, Mr. Jefferson, says sarcastically.
