It was now Saturday and Alec, Skye, and Amanda were all at my house. We were sitting on the couch in the living room with Heartland reruns playing on the tv when Alec spoke.

"Why is there a fish tank over there?"

"Because I have fish." I say.

"Oh! What are their names?" He asks.

"Cosmo and Wanda." I say with a smile.

"Really?" He raises his eye brows.

"Mhm." I nod. "I had a lobster once. His name was Timmy."

"You're weird." He shakes his head. "What happened to Timmy?"

"Max ate him."

"How?"

"Well, I was around seven so I thought it was a good idea to play with Timmy. I took him out of the tank and set him on the couch." I start. "Max jumped on the couch, and well, ate him."

"And you say Max isn't mean!" Alec says. As if on cue, Max comes up to Alec and decides to hug him. "AHHHH!"

"Max! Get down!" I say while laughing.

"It's not funny! I could have died!" Alec defends.

"It's kinda funny." I say. Max trots up to me and lays on my lap. Keep in mind he weighs, like, two hundred pounds. "Ugh! Max!"

"Haha!" Alec laughs.

"I hate you." I say to Alec while petting Max.

"I hate you too." He says.

"You guys are so cute!!! Hashtag Zalec!" Amanda says. I glare at her.

"If I could get up, I'd slap you."

***

"WHY?!" I scream when I get into the kitchen. Alec was standing on the counter, whip cream in his hand and covering his whole being. Skye was sitting on the fridge with cupcakes surrounding him. I don't even know where the cupcakes came from. Max was standing on his hind legs, front paws on the counter, licking the fallen whip cream off the counter. Amanda had left about an hour ago.

"What. Did. You. Do?"

"Umm, well, we, umm, kinda, thought it would be fun to, uh. I fought whip cream and Skye found cupcakes and then well, this happened." Alec says getting off the counter.

"I'm going to my room. Cleaning supplies are under the sink. I'll be back down in an hour. This will be cleaned up when I get back." I say and walk up the stairs. "AND GIVE MAX A BATH!!"

"Ugh!!"

***

"Uh, Z-Zola. I-I'm s-so s-sorry." Alec says knocking on my bedroom door. He called me Zola. This can't be good. I get up and open the door. Alec's standing there with pieces of glass in his hands.

"What happened?" I ask looking at his hands. Also when I said glass in his hands, I literally meant, glass in his hands.

"We were giving Max a bath and he knocked me into the mirror, and it shattered. I'm SO sorry. I'll pay for a new one, and I'll clean up the mess." He says. I can see tears in his eyes.

"Alec. Hey! It's fine." I say.

"I'm really sorry." He mumbles.

And then, I do something stupid.

I hug him.

I wrap my arms around his neck. He hesitates at first, but hugs me back, careful to not put glass in my shirt.

"Come on. Let's go get the glass out of your hand." I say and lead him into my bathroom. I tell him to sit on the toilet lid and he does. I grab peroxide, a wash rag, and bandaids. I kneel in front of him.

"It's going to hurt." I say. "If it gets unbearable, tell me and we'll take you to the hospital." He nods. I start to pull pieces of glass out of his hands.

"So, where's Skye?" I ask Alec, trying to distract him from the pain.

"He took Max outside. He's using the house to rinse him down and trying to get the glass out of his paws." Alec says but I can tell a difference in his voice.

"Oh ok." I say. "What bathroom did you guys use?"

"The one downstairs." He mumbles. "I was serious. I'll pay for a new mirror."

"Alec, its fine. You really don't have to."

"Yes I do." He says. "I'll pay you as soon as I get the money."

"You're not paying. It's really fine." I say.

"Is this going to make Jax and Bexley hate me?"

"I doubt it." I say. "That mirror was already cracked and Bexley hated it."

"Ok." He mumbles. I pull the last piece out of his hand and then put a bandaid on it. They now all had bandaids on them. "Thank you." He says.

"You're welcome." I say and he gets up and walks out the bathroom. "Alec! Wait!"

"Yeah?" He stands in the doorway.

"You called me Zola." I say.

"Don't get used to it, Nerd." He says with a smirk and walks away. I shake my head and bite back a smile.

I hate him.
