December 24
"Do you know what day it is!?" I say, running into the kitchen.
"Monday?"
"No! Well yes. But no! It's Christmas Eve! Are you dumb?"
"Oh! That makes more sense."
"MERRY CHRISTMAS!!" Mason comes running down the stairs, Matt following him.
Only Matt trips and falls down the stairs. Granted there were only two left, but still.
I go over to them and pick Matt up, telling him that he's ok and bouncing him in an attempt to slow his sobs. "Mason, buddy, Christmas is tomorrow. You do this every year."
"Oh." He says, crossing his little arms over his chest. "Well poo."
Bexley emerges from her room, the small baby bump visible through her t-shirt. She points to Matt, who's still in my arms. "Is he ok?"
"Yeah. He fell down two steps. But he's ok." I say, looking at the little boy in my arms.
"Mama." He reaches for her. She walks over and takes him from me, kissing the top of his head. We found out that she was having another boy. I know she was hoping for a girl, even though she's still happy, "As long as it's a healthy, I'll be happy." That's what she always said we you asked what she wanted.
Jax straight up was like, "Gimme a boy!"

"Did you add the water?" Amanda asks me. We're making cookies.
"We're supposed to add water?" I question, looking down at our oddly textured cookie dough.
"Yes!"
"That's not what the recipe says!"
"Right there!" Manda replies, pointing to the recipe .
"Oh."
She starts to reply when the front door slams against the wall. Alec and Skye emerge from it, coming into the kitchen.
Skye looks at our bowl, and the mess surrounding us, "What are you doing?"
"Making cookies." I say.
He steps closer to the bowl, peering inside, "They don't look cookies."
Alec sticks a finger in the bowl, picking up so cookies dough onto his finger before licking it off. He makes a sour face when he tastes it, "Doesn't taste like cookies either."
I gasp, "Rude."
"Anyway, Amanda and I are going somewhere." Skye says. Amanda nods and walks around the kitchen island to him.
"Where?" I ask, upset that my supposed best friend is ditching me.
"Somewhere." Skye says. Amanda washes her hands and grabs her bag before the start to leave.
