Delirious' pov
I shot up in bed, my eyes immediately closing again from the blinding whiteness. I slowly opened them again and looked around the ghostly looking room. A heart monitor beeped next to me, it's beat picking up a little the more I looked around.I realised I had a mask covering my mouth that helped me breath and tore it off, gasping in the sterilized air. It smelt too sanitry for my liking but I couldn't get out of bed for some reason. I looked down to see a think cast incasing my leg and frowned. What the fuck happened?
"Jonathan?" A sweet girls voice asked. I turned to see what appeared to be a nurse in the doorway. Wait, am I in a hospital? "It's good to see you're awake sir. You've been out for a while."
"W-what happened?" My voice croaked from lack of use.
"You had a pretty nasty fight. You got beaten up pretty bad and stumbled off a balcony two stories up. You're lucky you're still alive," the nurse said, her voice calm but unsettling. I don't remember a fight that bad. Wasn't I with Evan and the others? Wait, where are they?
"Where...?" I began to ask but ended with a coughing fit and painful lungs.
"Careful sir. One of your ribs snapped and punctured your lungs. You still need to recover from it," the lady said in a voice that was becoming sickening to me from how calm she was.
"How long have I been out?" I changed my question.
"Nearly a month. You were in a pretty bad coma but you're awake now so you should recover quicker," the nurse said with a smile. I felt my stomach turn and closed my eyes, taking deep breaths to calm myself. When did all of this happen?
"Sir? Are you okay?" A males voice asked. I looked up to see a doctor had come in and the nurse had stepped aside. I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out. I closed it and looked away, trying to figure things out.
Was everything just a dream? But it felt so real. Being in Evan's arms, having feelings for him and Luke. Everything felt so real. But the more I thought about it the less real it felt. It slowly faded away as the real world sank in and my memory came back. I gasped as a rush of flashbacks danced across my vision.
The whole murder and stuff wasn't real. I did snap but I only hospitalized the person. I ended up getting into a massive fight after. I remember falling and seeing the shocked faces of everyone as they ran away. So who brought me here?
"Delirious!" I heard a shout and turned to see Evan and Luke run into the room to my side. "You're awake!" It was Luke talking.
"Hey," I said, no other words coming into my head. I tried to piece together how they fit into the real world. I was still with the group as far as I knew. I hadn't moved schools I just never told them about the bullying. I still had a crush on both of them but they hadn't told me they liked me back.
"We need to do a few check ups on Jonathan here. We'll call you back into the room when we're done," the doctor said, motioning for them to leave. They nodded and said a quick bye before leaving.
The doctor did his check up, saying I'd recovered quite well but still needed to stay another week to fully recover. I'd still have a cast and need to rest at home though. He wrote something down on his clip board as I was left still trying to remember what was real and what was fake in my head.
"Your friends can come in again if you'd like. Though, I do recommend you try to get some rest," the doctor said and I nodded. Him and the nurse soon left, Evan and Luke coming back inside.
"Dude, we'd thought you weren't gonna wake up. You scared us for a while there," Luke said. I gave a weak smile but it faltered in more ways then one and they both noticed.
"Something bothering you?" Luke asked again.
"I don't know... I think while I was out I... I dreamt up this stuff that felt real... now I don't know what was real and what was made up," I said, seeing their smiles widen.
"Well then, let me tell you a story of the real world," Luke said, a wondrous grin on his face. "I don't know much about your life before we met, all I know is that you live with your mum and sister while your dad goes on lots of businesses trips. We met around the ages of 13 and 14 and have been friends since while we met Evan when we were 16, 17. We stay up late every night playing video games and getting our asses kicked half the time. You always get bullied at school but never do anything about it and refuse to let us help cause you don't want us to get hurt. You have trust issues and pretty bad anxiety and depression which, once again, you won't let us help with because you don't want to drag us down with your problems. The other day you, Evan and I were heading to class when the group of bullies came and started beating all of us up. They said it was because you nearly killed one of their guys. Three of them attacked you alone and pushed you backwards off the balcony. When they saw you fall they all ran off and we came down to assist you, calling the ambulance and here we are," he finished, a sad yet worried expression dancing across his face.
"Thanks...," I mumbled as everything became clearer but one thing still bothered me. My mask. I would never take it off but I can't even see it now. I don't want to ask incase it gets awkward so I'll just leave it for now.
"Jon?" A soft voice came from the door. I looked up to see my... sister. Memories of her flooded my mind and I smiled, opening my arms as she ran to me and buried her face into my chest.
"I'm so glad you're okay Jon. I thought you were going to die," she cried and I reassured her it was going to be okay. And it will be because now I'm going to try to fix the problems I can fix. I couldn't before but I can now. And I will.
