Chapter 17

Alex and the officer went into a private room, sort of like a hospital, to help snitch up her hand. The two sat there quietly. Each one was eyeing the other. Soon enough, it became awkward enough because the officer spoke.

Alex's POV:

"Who is the man outside?" The stranger asks. I quickly grew tensed as I didn't know whether to tell the truth.

"You don't have to lie. I know who the man is. We've been trying to ask him down for years." The officer smiled.

I must've shown a shock look on my face. "You don't think I'm that stupid?" The cop continued. I honestly didn't know what to say. "No, it's fine. I'm messing with ya." The officer laughed as he finished up my bandage. "Well, there ya go." He finished. I looked at him for a few seconds with a look that said, are you really going to make me go back to that monster?

"We need something to charge him with and we can't do that without someone pressing charges." He explained.

"I want to press charges." I spoke confidently for the first time in what seemed like months. He nodded and led me to another room.

"Sit down. We need to get your side of the story. Then we'll get his side." He said, sitting down across from me.

"What if he kills me?" I asked the gentleman.

"He won't. We'll have 24/7 protection for you." He explained. With all the courage I could muster, I took a deep breath and began to tell my story.

*Later*

Alex's POV:

Once, I got my side out, it felt good. It felt good knowing someone knew what horrible things this man had done to me.

"Now, it's we know you've been kidnapped, we are going to provide protection at a distance. We can't let him catch on that we're looking after you, Alex." The officer said and sent me on my merry way back to my hell.
