Chapter 28

It was the next day. The white bed sheets were comfortable enough that it seemed like Justin and Alex did not want to crawl out of bed. The two were tangled up in each other while Sira slept on the pull out bed that the motel provided.
The room was as dark as night. It was to be expected as it was nearly 6:00am and it was crazy to expect the three to get up that early. The phone rang and it sent the two into a panic. They looked at each other then back at the phone.

Justin's POV:

I quickly looked over at Sira. She was still sleeping like a log. The blanket was covering her entire body.

"We need to get out of here by today." I said matter of factly to Sira, knowing it wasn't safe for us to stay in one place for too long. My brother could be plotting to kill us as we lay in this bed.

"Agreed. But first, let's get breakfast. I'm hungry." She said and I silently laughed. This girl was always hungry. I nodded before realizing she couldn't see me in this dark room.

"Yes, let's do that." I said and turned on the lamp that provided just a little bit of light but not too much.

"Why did you turn the light on Justin?" Sira asked, her body turned to face mine. I told her that we were hungry and wanted to get something to eat.

She jumped out of bed at the sound of this information. Her toothy grin was enough to light up the rest of this room.

"Let's go." She marched toward the door and opened it. Alex ran to close it and kneeled down to her level. She whispered something I couldn't hear.

"Come on Justin! Let's go!" She was pulling on my arm, signaling that she wanted food and she wanted it right this second. I laughed before allowing her to pull me forward.

The sun was so beating down on all three of us as we walked toward the motel restaurant. It wasn't too shabby. The white, tile floors glisten in the sun as the curtains were open all the way.

"Welcome!" The hostess said with a huge, beaming and pearly white smile. It was almost blinding if we're being completely honest here. Sira looked at me and waited for me to tell her something.

"Follow her." I gently commanded her and she did it without question with a huge smile on her face. Alex laughed before following her as well.

"I'm hungry." Sira said to the black haired hostess. She smiled before giving her a children's menu.

"Mommy, look." Sira said, tapping on Alex's shoulder.

She turned and saw a police officer coming to our direction.
"Hello ma'am. Is it okay if I asked you a couple of questions?" The police officer said in a commanding voice.

"Um, yeah. Let's go away from here." Alex seemed nervous.

Alex's POV:

"Um, yeah. Let's go away from here." My palms were sweating buckets and my heart was beating twenty miles an hour. It was so loud that I swear it could've been heard from the entire restaurant.

"So, what's your name?" He asked me, taking out his notepad.
"Um, Madison." My hands were feeling like I had gotten out of a pool.

"Okay, Madison. What year were you born?" The officer.

"Um, 1999. Um, what is this about?" I asked. I really wanted to get rid of this guy.

"Someone saw a girl on a missing person's report and he said you looked like her." The officer replied. He closed his notepad, said thank you and left.

I went back to the table with Justin and Sira waiting for me.

"What was that all about?" Justin asked. I shook my head and said I had no idea.
