Another strike hit, this time closer. I yelped and ran to the right, away from the last attack. As my feet were running as fast as they could take me, I came to a stop once the yelling and crashing came to a cease. My body plopped onto the nearby tree stump as I took a deep breath.

I looked around the eerie forest with wide and curious eyes. The trees were dark and the atmosphere was spine chilling. I tugged my coat tighter around my body to keep the warmth shielding me.The fainte screams in the distance could have been heard from a diffrent country but at this point I did not even blink. I was used to it.

I felt another pound, it was closer. My body was quick to stand up as I craned my neck to see where it was coming from and before I knew it, the ground was shaking powerfully. A screamed escaped my lips as I began to run. I sprinted in the opposite direction of the commotion and felt the hot tears threating to run down my face, but there was no time for crying.

I kept running until a loud noise and whack threw me off the ground and onto the forest floor. Before my mind could process thought I was laying on the group completely still. I tried moving my arms and legs but nothing would budge. Numbness took over my body, followed by the pitch blackness.

I shot up and clutched my chest. I looked around, I was not in the forest, nor was I dead. I was in my bed. It was just a nightmare. I breathed a sigh of relief as I looked over at my clock, 10:34 in the morning. I climbed out of my bed and walked over to the bathroom.

I looked in the mirror and gasped at the reflection. It was not me, it was a ghost of who I was. I splashed my face with ice cold water to try and wash away the pale girl in front of me. I took the tie out of my hair and let the brown waves fall down my shoulders. I turned the water on for my shower and stripped myself of my clothes and stepped into a cold shower.

I washed my hair with the honey and lavender scented shampoo and conditioner. I washed my body with the same body wash scent and shaved my legs and under arms.

As I turned off the water and wrapped myself in a towel I walked back to my room and grabbed the first thing I saw in my closet, which happened to be a simply light pink dress. I slipped on my undergarments along with the dress. I took a look in the mirror as I watched my reflection and brushed the tangles in my brown hair.

Once the tangles were out of my hair I braided it back in a tight, neat, French braid.  I folded the dirty clothes and put them in the launder hamper and began walking down the stairs the my living room. The second I was in earshot of the kitchen the noise level was ringing.

I glanced at my mother who was cooking food with one hand and gossiping on the phone with another. When I looked at the table three highchairs were placed with three yelling toddlers sitting in them.

"Arabella, thank god you're here. Do me a favor and put the bibs on the babies" she said tossing me the three bibs. I nodded and watched her mouth a thank-you before returning to her conversation on the phone.

As I walked to the table I watched my two brothers-Arthur and Felix, and little sister Aurora, argue about the toys they were playing with. I smiled and began tying bibs around their necks. I felt a light tug on my dress from Aurora who looked up pouting at me.

"Bella! Felix keeps telling me boys are better then girls" she says looking over at the snickering boys with disgust.

"There just teasing" I said softly, patting her head.

I sat down in my seat at the other end of the table and placed my hands in my lap, fiddling with my fingers. I was waiting for Elliot or Seth to call us like they do every morning or night.  Seth and Elliot were my older brothers. They were both big leaders in the North American gang The Ferocious. Since they are away doing work for the gang they call us to keep in contact. When ever they call they give us a small bit of information, very risky, but very useful information

We had absolute no control over our society in any way. Police were terrified of the gangs as well as the government, leaving nothing to stop them. Anybody who talked out or even said their opinion was killed. That's why I tried to keep to myself and stay out of everybody's way, nobody was safe.

"Arabella? Are you ok? Your breakfast is getting cold, honey" my mother said a concerned look on her face.

I looked around to see the babies happily eating pancakes. I looked down to see my omelet placed on a plate. I smiled and grabbed a fork and began eating quickly.

I kept quiet as my mother scolded Arthur for playing with his food instead of eating it. I looked at my mother in awe.  She was an amazing women, she never admits it or hears it enough but she really is. Even when Seth and Elliot were away she always had a reason for her smile to be permant on her face.

I looked down and noticed my plate was empty, I got up and put the plate in the sink. I turned back to my mother as she was clearing the table.

"Bella can you clean up the babies while I wash the table" she said passing me a wipe. I nodded and took Felix's hands and started cleaning them.

"Are you going to school today?" she asked wiping down the table.

"No its already 11 and we don't do anything in school" I said picking Felix up out of his highchair and letting him run to his toy bin.

"Does anybody go to school anymore?" she asked while fixing her hair into a neater bun.

"Not really, the most I have ever seen in my classes are 10 kids"

"That's awful. I remember when school used to be so important."

"I know but honestly mom, can you blame us? We have nobody in that school who can stop anybody from intruding. That place is practically a ticking time bomb."

"I know" she said while I finished wiping down the other two babies and letting them run off and play. "Well if you're going to be around can you just run some errands for me while I clean up around this place"

"Of course just give me a list of things you need me to do and I'll go" I said.

"Not much, just go to the bank and take out 30 dollars and then go to the market and grab some milk" she said handing me her car keys. "And it wouldn't hurt to put some gas in the car as well"

"Ok, I'll be back soon." I said and with that I grabbed my purse and left.
