Chapter Twenty
"So, let me get this straight. You asked me to help you pick out a ring so you can propose to your girlfriend?"
I nodded.
"You didn't ask your sister to help you because she was busy hanging out with Rick?"
I nodded again.
"And that takes Rick out of your options," Lorane said.
"Yeah," I said.
"And you don't want your girlfriend to know?"
I nodded.
"So, why didn't you ask your mom?"
"You have no idea why I didn't want to," I said.
"Oh," she said.
"So, yeah?"
"Alright," she shrugged.
"Great! Let's go," I said, standing up.
"Hold up there!"
"Yeah?" I turned around and asked.
"What's in for for me?"
"Well, what do you want?"
"I'll think about it," she smirked.
"First, nothing can involve my relationship with Chelsea. And you cannot tell anyone. Second, I just have to approve what you want," I said.
"You're serious about her, huh?"
"Of course!"
"Fine with me then," she said as she stood up.
I nodded and grabbed my keys off my desk.
"Come on now, lover boy," Lorane called as she walked out.
I locked my office once I got out and followed her. When we got inside my car, I drove us to the mall.
Once we got there, we entered a jewelry shop and a man greeted us. He looked around our age and had blond hair with blue eyes.
"Hi, we're looking for a ring," Lorane smiled.
"What kind of ring are you looking for?" He asked, looking down at the glass counter with the displays inside of them.
Lorane turned to me and raised an eyebrow.
"Could I see the prettiest ones?"
"Sure," he nodded before he unlocked the glass and took some out and set them on the glass counter.
"Are you the bride?" He asked Lorane.
She shook her head.
"I was going to say that he was a lucky guy. But as it turns out, I might be the lucky one," he smirked.
Is he seriously flirting with her?
Lorane smiled seductively at the man and I cleared my throat and raised an eyebrow.
She rolled her eyes before looking down at the rings he took out.
I followed her gaze and smiled. I'm really going to propose to the woman I love, I thought.
"This one," she said, snapping me out of my thoughts.
I took it from her and examined it.
When I was about to say something, a ring inside the glass caught my eye.
"Can I see that one?"
The man nodded and took it out for me.
The ring was heart shaped. The heart was ruby and around it were diamonds. I'm sure that Chelsea would love this.
