Chapter Six
"Why are you home late again?" Kali asked from the couch when I opened the door.
Then she looked at my appearance.
"And why have you been looking like that for the passed few days every time you come back home?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.
I wouldn't be surprised at how she was looking at me. My tie was loosened around my neck, my collar shirt was unbuttoned at the top, and my collar shirt wasn't tucked in.
I looked at her and just shrugged. Then I closed the door and walked to my room. On my way, somebody bumped into me.
"Sorry," she said sheepishly.
"It's fine," I said without looking at her as I continued walking to my room.
After I took a shower and got dressed, I heard a knock on my door.
"Come in," I said as I used my towel to dry my hair.
"Leo, are you okay?" Kali said once she closed the door.
"I'm fine. What's up?"
"Nothing, you just seem distracted," she said, taking a seat on my bed.
"Don't worry," I replied as I sat down next to her.
"You miss her, huh?" Kali said, out of the blue.
"I'm not sure. Maybe I just miss what we had together," I answered, reminiscing.
"You know, you shouldn't spend time torturing yourself over her," she said sadly.
"I know. I guess I'm just pissed," I replied looking straight ahead, particularly at nothing.
"Do you sometimes feel as if you're trapped? Feel as if there are no way to get out? To get out of memories. To get out of your mind. To get out of love?" She asked, looking at the carpet in front of her.
"Yeah," I said.
"Maybe all you need to do is let it go," she said quietly.
"There's definitely side effects to that though," I replied.
"It's better than doing nothing about it. You can just forget and let it go. You can just do whatever you want instead of letting those memories haunt you forever. What's the point of letting it? Memories are memories. Right now is right now," she said before standing up.
"Thanks little sis," I smiled.
"You know I'll always be the best," she smiled back.
"Imagine Mom saying those things to me," I chuckled as I stood up.
The mood suddenly lightened.
"I should've thought of that. I should've called Mom," she groaned.
"If you did, I'd tell Mom to take you back with her," I smirked.
"Hey, my brother is back!" she grinned.
"Do you have everything ready for the winter get together?"
"Sort of, but why is it called a Winter Ball?" she asked curiously.
"It's a black tie event where companies meet and enjoy the night without work being involved unless they want to talk about it, but there are music, decorations, food, and drinks there too. I guess it's called Winter Ball because it's in the winter," I chuckled.
