Chapter 8

Lucas took his hand out of mine to turn pull into the parking lot of where we were going to eat. The neon orange sign of Texas Roadhouse lit up the darkening sky. "Honestly this is my favorite place to eat" "Yeah I know it is, that's why we are here," Lucas said "How? I never told you that" "Do you remember that survey you turned in to my class?" "The survey that was all about our selves?" I asked him before it clicked in my head that he must have read mine. "Lucas that's not fair! Now you know all of my favorite things, but I know nothing about you!" I said teasing him.

"Lily you don't want to know about me, I have a very dark past," he said, his attitude changing from playful to serious in a matter of seconds. I wanted him to elaborate more on the subject but before I could ask him more he jumped out of his jeep and walked over to my side. He opened my car for me and helped me climb out, he shut the door for me cornering me between his body and the jeep. He put an arm up on both sides of me pressing his palms flat against the jeep.

"Lily, you are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. Your light chases away the darkness that has lived in my soul. You make me feel something that I have never felt before. The short moments we have spent together has changed my life. I knew I loved since the moment I saw you, something about you draws me to you. No matter how hard I tried to forget about you, I just found myself thinking about you more. I need you, you are a promise of light when I thought I was doomed to spend eternity in darkness." He looked me in the eyes as he spoke, mesmerizing me with his sweet words of love. Putting my hand on his face, cupping his strong jaw, I pull his face down to mine and kiss him. I pressed my self against his hard lean body, letting my hands travel underneath his shirt. I could feel his smooth skin as I drift my hands lightly up and down his torso. His abs were rock solid and perfectly defined they would make a Calvin Klein model envious.

His breathing changed, quickening along with the beat of his heart, the kiss became more passionate. The hunger within him growing more and more by the second. I removed my hands from underneath his shirt and ran them through his dark hair. His curls were soft and smooth as I ran my fingers through them. He let out a soft moan of pleasure as I tugged gently on them, and deepened the kiss. He did the same lacing his fingers in my hair, gently pull it to guide me exactly where he wanted me. Pulling my head back, he exposed my neck and kissed me in the soft spot where my jaw meets my neck. Kissing me there a few more times, he slowly started making his way down my neck to my exposed collarbone. He grazed his teeth lightly over it before softly knicking it with his teeth. Chills of excitement covered my body, noticing the chills he stopped what he was doing and look me in the eyes. "You are mine Lily, I need you in more ways than you could possibly imagine, you breathe life into my dead soul. I love you, Lily. I knew the moment I met you that you were different. I knew I had to have you." he said to me while lightly holding my cheek in his soft hand. I can't believe that this beautiful man loves me! A small portion of me believed that I loved him too, but the other half of me was cautious and warning me to be careful, it's too good to be true. While Lucas was professing his love for me, Cameron flashed through my mind.

"I think that's enough talk for now, let's go eat." He said winking at me as he grabbed my hand and pulled me behind him into the restaurant. Once inside I was instantly at ease, the layout of this Texas Roadhouse was the exact same as the one back home. In the corner, as you walk in and wait to be seated was a big Jukebox that was crooning a mix of old and new country music as you ate. The familiar crunch of the peanut shells under your feet as we walked to our booth was music to my ears. As we walk through the restaurant as a sudden wave of homesickness almost overtakes me. A memory of my last birthday played in my head like a movie.

It was my 19th birthday, 3 weeks after I graduated high school. My parents surprised me with a birthday dinner with all of my closest friends and family. It was one of the happiest moments of my life, I was surrounded by loved ones and couldn't have been happier. Family from near and far made the journey to be here with me. My cousins drove in from Oklahoma to be here in this moment in life. I have 3 older boy cousins that were more like older brothers than cousins. Greyson was the oldest, he was 6 years older than me and took care of me when I needed someone to have my back. Christian was 3 years older than me, even though he acted like he 10 years older than me, he always thought he was too cool to hang out with us. Wyatt was my favorite, he was exactly 1 year and a month older than I am and he was my best friend since birth.
