"Are you sure you're ready for this? You're not gonna get all shy on me and make me talk to them by myself are you?" I ask my 10 year old sister Angie as we stand in line, waiting to meet the guys we've spent so long watching on YouTube and Vine.
"I'm sure. I'll talk to Johnson if you talk to Gilinsky," she says. Uh-huh. Sure you will Angie.
"Next," the security guard calls. I take a deep breath, grabbing Angie's hand. I give her one final grin before we walk into the room to meet Jack and Jack.
"Hey ladies, what's up?" Johnson says as we walk up. Angie squeezes my hand and moves to hide behind my legs. Thanks sis.
"Sorry she's really shy. Nice to meet you, I'm Alix and this is my little sister Angie," I say to the two boys in front of me.
"Nice to meet you both. I'd introduce us but I'm sure you know who we are." Angie squeezes my hand again and when I look down I see tears brimming.
"Uh, anyways. Angie is in love with you Johnson. That's why she's crying. We've been waiting to meet you guys forever. But yeah, she loves her some Jack J." Johnson squats down to be at her level and holds his arms out. I nudge my sister forward and she slowly walks into Johnson's open arms, hugging him tightly.
"It's about time Ang, jeez oh peets," I say, she turns and sticks her tongue out at me. Johnson laughs.
"So if she's a Johnson girl, does that mean you're a Gilinsky girl?" G says from next to me. I shrug.
"I'm more of a Cub girl," I tell him, referring to the boys' dog.
"Liar, you're totally in love with Gilinsky. You talk about him all the time," Angie says. I narrow my eyes at her.
"Thanks for that sis. Yes I am totally a Gilinsky girl. You're my favorite. Not that I could ever say Johnson was my favorite because Angie is very territorial about her man," I say. Gilinsky grins and opens his arms. I hug him, feeling like I'm floating.
"So what's your guys' favorite song?" Johnson asks.
"'Like That' for sure," Angie and I say in unison.
"You guys should see Angie's dance moves to that one. We go hard. She does Skate and Gilinsky's part and I do Johnson's and we jam all the time," I tell the boys.
"So do you know Skate's whole part?" G asks. Angie and I nod.
"Okay, this is gonna sound crazy but we've been looking for someone who could do that part of the song for the show tonight. If you guys are up for it we'd love to have you," Johnson says. I look at Angie who nods.
"Definitely. That'd be awesome," I tell the Jacks.
"Guys, you gotta wrap it up," the security guard tells them.
"Oh! The pictures right, do you guys have any ideas? Do you want individuals or a group one?" J asks.
"A group one. We were thinking Johnson could hug Angie and I could hug G and then Angie and I could be fist bumping each other behind our backs," I tell them.
"Sounds cool." We take the picture and the boys hug us again.
"So meet Jack's dad at the merch table after Distraction and he'll get you guys backstage. And we'll party and have a blast," Johnson tells us.
"Sounds like a plan. We'll see you guys soon!" I tell the boys. Angie and I start to walk off and I hear Gilinsky call my name so I swivel around. He blows me a kiss and I blush.
"I love you Angie!" Johnson calls after us.
"I love you more!" she calls back. These boys.
"That was insane," I tell Ang when we get out to the main room of the venue with the stage. We were at the back of the line so there's already a good number of people around. Our mom is standing by the bar when we walk up with giant grins on our face.
"So?! How was it?!" she asks excitedly.
"Well. Angie didn't cry too much. They were super sweet. Oh and they asked us to jam to Like That with them onstage. So there's that," I tell her.
"Seriously! That's awesome!!"
"Yes! We have to find G's dad at the merch table during Distraction and he'll take us up there."
"Angie are you going to bust out in your fancy dance moves?" mom asks.
"Yes because they'll make Johnson laugh."
When the intro to Distraction starts up, Angie and I rush over to the merch table. I recognize G's dad from social media.
"You two must be Angie and Alix! The one's doing Like That?" he yells above the music. I nod.
"Follow me. The boys are excited. They couldn't stop talking about you two before the show." Oh lord, this all just got so much more real. I'm about to go rap onstage in front of a couple hundred people. WITH JACK GILINSKY.
"So I know y'all know this next one, so jam with us yeah?" Johnson asks the crowd. The familiar beginning of Angie and I's favorite song starts. I look at her and she gives me a giant smile. Suddenly it's like we're back in our bedroom listening to Spotify.
"I ain't never met a girl, like you," Gilinsky sings, walking over to the side stage where we are.
"And you'll never find a man, like me," he says, grabbing my hand, Johnson comes over and grabs Angie's.
"Walkin' out the door, witchu on my arm you can hit me on the phone any time you want," G sings to me, wrapping his arm around my shoulders. I smile. Johnson leans down so he and Angie can share the mic.
"Got me goin mad when you dress like that," I hear Angie sing.
"Girl it's a trap when you act like that, I ain't even mad when you dress like that, I know you know you're bad when you act like that. Oh yeah," G and Ang sing together.
"Met a bad biddy from the state of Mississippi, really pretty and I wanna take her home to see my city. Doin' your thing, got me insane," Angie and I rap. We do Skate's whole part before Gilinsky and Johnson take over. A stage crew member brings stools out for us to sit on while the guys sing. When Johnson's part starts, Angie gets up and starts dancing. The crowd goes nuts and I laugh at her crazy moves.
"Give it up for Angie and Alix everyone! Thanks ladies for jamming with us," Johnson says. He hugs Angie and kisses her cheek. Gilinsky does the same to me and then they switch before we head offstage to enjoy the rest of the concert. I can't believe that actually just happened.
