"Well, let's take your mind off of it and have some fun, just like old times," Jack says a few minutes later. We pull into Dave and Busters and I grin at him.
"It's like you can read my mind," I tell him.
"Isn't that what best friends are supposed to do?" We walk into the building, grabbing cards from the front counter and loading them with points. (A/N I have no clue how Dave and Buster's works. I've never been there so bear with me.)
"Race you to Mario Cart!" I shout before taking off in a sprint in front of Jack. He catches up to me at the game.
"Ready for me to kick your ass Bells?" he asks as we sit and swipe our game cards.
"Ha yeah right pretty boy, I am the champ at this game," I tell him. Needless to say, I win.
"Ready for food?" Jack asks after we play a couple more games. I nod so we find a table and sit, soon our waitress is standing there taking our orders.
"What can I get you guys?" she says, looking directly at Jack and pretty much ignoring me. I roll my eyes, but I guess I knew this was going to happen. I mean, what girl wouldn't look at him as if he were some sort of Greek God?
"I'm gonna do the bacon cheeseburger with no onions. Bells?" Jack asks me, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Chicken tenders for me please," I tell the chick. She nods, writing it down.
"Alright, it'll be right out." We hand her our menus and she walks off.
"So what are you going to do about the boyfriend situation?" Jack asks as I take a sip of my water.
"Uh I've already dumped him, what else am I supposed to do?"
"I don't know, don't you want to get back at him? Or something? You're evil minded like that, I thought revenge would be at the top of your to-do list."
"Yeah well, that won't do me any good. And right now I'm just trying to ignore it and the feeling that my heart is slowly starting to break into a million pieces." I say, suddenly serious. I pull my phone out of my purse to see Drew and Alexis have texted. Ellie has too so I open hers first.
Ellie: you doing okay? Need anything?
Me: I'm hanging with Jack right now so I'm okay....can I call you later tho?
Ellie: of course. Jack is back from tour?
Me: yeah we're at D & Bs just hanging out
Ellie: fun! have fun w/ him. Ur single now so you don't have to worry about jealous BFs!! lol
Me: true....also I think Jack got hotter oml how am I going to keep pretending like I don't think he's the sexiest creature ever?
"Everything okay Bells?" Jack asks, looking at me with concern in his eyes.
"Yeah, I'm just talking about homework with Ellie, sorry," I say, putting my phone away again.
"No worries, seriously though are you okay? You got kinda depressing on me for a second," he says worriedly.
"Yeah, I guess. I kinda just don't want to think about it right now. Let's talk about something else, give me all the juicy details of tour," I say. Jack starts talking about performances and fan encounters and fun things they did around the world the last six months. Our food comes as he talks and we dig in. He makes me laugh and I push all the shit with Drew and Lexy to the back of my mind for the time being.
"More games?" Jack says as I finish eating. I take a drink of water as I nod and we leave the table with the paid check on top.
"So, 20 years old huh? Welcome to the club," he tells me as we walk around, looking for something to play.
"Yup, the only difference being I actually texted you and wrote a sweet Instagram post for your birthday and I didn't hear anything from you on mine," I tease.
"You're not going to let it go are you?" Jack asks, I shake my head.
"Nope. Never. Well, maybe if you make it up to me," I tell him.
"And how am I going to do that?" he asks. I shrug and bat my eyelashes.
"Figure it out," I tell him as I saunter away to find an open game to play. No boyfriend, means I get to flirt again right?
