Between 3: Sins of a King

Chapter 7: Tension

Narrator: "It has been 3 days since the 4 left Wraith. They still have another 3 ahead of them, but it would to wait a bit."

Jay: "When will something interesting happen?"

Jade: "It would be better to just shut your mouth until nightfall. So keep those smartass comments to yourself. Every word that comes out of that mouth of yours pisses me off!"

Jake notices.

Jake: "Are you in another fight?"

Jade: "Go ahead and do what you are going to do.?

Jake: "Just wait until we get to camp."

Ruby whispers to Jake.

Ruby: "What are you going to do?"

Jake: "(full of rage) Make them settle their differences."

Several hours later...

Jake: "Are you two ready?"

Jay: "What is our punishment oh wise one?"

Jake: "This."

Jake stabs the ground and creates a gigantic ice barrier around the two.

Jake: "You two can fight all you want in there, but you'll have to work together to bust out. Oh and no dinner until you get out."

Jay/Jade: "WHAT?!"

Ruby: "Nice."

Jake and Ruby walk away and leaves the two inside the foot thick barrier.

Jade: "Well shit."

Jay: "You want to get out ASAP?"

Jade: "How about I pummel your smug face into the ground?!"

Jade lunges for Jay, but he dodges.

Jay: "If you can hit me we'll start busting this ice."

Jade: "How about I snap that jaw in two and I'll think about it!"

Jade lunges for Jay, but he dodges without breaking a sweat.

Jay: "(laughing) Really? That your best?"

Jay sends an explosive bullet at Jade's feet and Jade gets hit by the explosion. Meanwhile...

Jake: "Well sounds like they chose fight over escape."

Ruby finishes pitching the tents while Jake cooks.

Ruby: "Think they're going to be okay?"

Jake: "I've known Jay for quite a bit and I know that he isn't afraid of shedding blood, but...."

Ruby: "But?"

Jake: "Jade can easily protect herself. Jay focuses on light and quick damage, he can't do much."

Ruby: "Really?"

Jake: "Not to mention Jade is just pissed. You don't screw with a pissed person."

Ruby: "You sound like a wise person."

Jake: "Uhh... thanks?"

Inside the barrier....

Jade: "Nimble bastard."

Jay: "Hey don't blame me for your skills."

Jay shoots several bullets at Jade.

Jade: "I will get that punch!"

Jade counters the bullets away.

Jay: "Just saying that you have nothing on me."

Jade smashes her hammer into the ground and causes several giant icicles from the ceiling to crash down.

Jay: "I guess you can think."

Jay attempts to dodge them all.

Jade: "You said you are a bounty hunter, but you sure look like you don't take it very serious."

Jay prepares his nunchucks, but puts them back in their holster.

Jay: "(calmly) When you have the skills of a war machine what is the point? Even without my telekinetic abilities I can kill a hundred people without a sweat."

Jade: "Really? Then take me seriously if your so good."

Jade whips out her axe.

Jay: "Does it look like I need to?"

Jay draws his gun.

Jay: "Most of my life was training, no one to hold me back, but myself."

Jade: "Didn't you have a family?"

Jay: "For exactly 5 years."

Jade swings her hammer trying to bash Jay's skull in.

Jade: "I hope you don't mind explaining as you dodge."

Jay: "My entire family was murdered  a little over 9 years ago."

Jade: "Like hell I would believe anything that comes out of your sarcastic shithole that you call your mouth!"

Jay: "Just ask Jake, he knows."

Jade switches to her sword and smashes the edge of the wall.

Jay: "(sarcastically) Looks like you are taking this seriously."

Jade manages to get behind Jay.

Jade: "You are just now seeing that?"

Jade pulls out her hammer and smashes it into Jay's jaw, sending him crashing through the wall and another 10 feet.

Jade: "Glad that is out of my system."

Jay stands up with a calm and composed look.

Jay: "Satisfi- FUCK!"

Jake looks over.

Jake: "See? That is why you don't mess around with someone who has it out for you, when they finally get the hit, it hurts more every time you dodge."

Jake walks over to Jay to fix his jaw.

Jake: "Let me guess..... Jade smashed you through the wall."

Jay: "Yep."

Jade: "I just wanted that so badly, so I guess I over did it."

Jade shows a little smile.

Jake notices several ice shards stuck in Jay's arm.

Jake: "That will be fun to remove."

Jay: "Can't you just heal me and they will fall out?"

Jake: "Do you think I would say that if I could? If my ice remains in your bloodstream too long your heart will stop."

Jay: "Happened before?"

Jake: "No, but I am certain it can considering that the ice in the barrier is the coldest batch of ice yet."

They walk over to camp.

Ruby: "Looks like you two had a smashing time."

Jade: "Yeah enough of the puns, is food ready?"

Jake: "Ruby, I really hope you don't mind serving while I help Mr. Sarcastic get these ice shards out of his arm."

Ruby: "It's fine."

Ruby serves everyone as Jake got a few shards out."

Jay: "Geez, that hurts!"

Jake: "I'll get them out in one swoop if this hurts."

Jake rips them out simultaneously.

Jay: "FUUUCCK!!"

Jake: "Now I'll heal that..."

Jake fixes Jay's arm.

Jay: "Thanks."

Jake wipes sweat from his forehead.

Jake: "Can you please take everyone here more seriously? You know it pissed Jade off."

Jay: "Alright, fine."

Jake: "You better."

Jay: "I'll at least try."

Jake: "If you say so."
