Chapter 12: Keeping Cool

The five had to only traverse two days through an oddly calm desert.

Jay: "Thank god it was a shorter trip."

Jake sets down Alyssa.

Jake: "(pissed) I hope you realize that hurts more than my fucking back!"

They had arrived in Pri, town of Pride.

Alyssa: "(drowsy) I was just tired."

Jade: "Everyone focus. We got lucky on our way here to not be attacked and made it here in two days, I believe that we can relax for a bit."

Jay: "Strange..."

Jade: "What?"

Jay: "I'm pretty sure you would be all about having us infiltrate the palace ASAP."

Jade blushes.

Jade: "No! I just feel that we arrived early and people like Jake could use a break. We did just take care of the fourth ruler."

Jake: "(in head) Or you are starting to learn how to lighten up."

Ruby: "Hey guys, let's go stop by the marketplace. They may have some good food."

Alyssa jumps up at the word food

Alyssa: "Did someone say food?"

Ruby: "(awkwardly) Yes?"

Alyssa: "Food..."

Ruby: "Apparently the only thing that just Alyssa to not sleep is food."

Jake: "Let's go take a look at the marketplace. We are running low on food."

The five walk to the marketplace and find a wide assortment of snake meat.

Jake: "(in head) I can cook up something nice with this."

Jake purchases a few things of snake meat.

Ruby: "This looks nice."

Ruby tries to sneak a piece of bread, but Jade catches her.

Jade: "I got it."

Jade pays for a few loaves of bread.

Jade: "Keep forgetting that we're not in Gree?"

Ruby: "It sucks to be the embodiment of Greed. Agony doesn't have a specific personality issue, Greed does."

Jade: "Fair enough."

Alyssa: "(drowsy) Food..."

Alyssa pays for a boatload of snake meat, seasonings, and cactus fruit.

Jay: "(in head) I didn't keep my head, I was shaking."

Jay smacks himself.

Jay: "I have to get over this. For once I need to focus."

Jake walks up to Jay.

Jake: "Jay, are you okay?"

Jay: "(sighs) I'm fine."

Jake: "(in head) What happened in Lustaicious really screwed with his calm composure. I need to find a way to fix this."

The girls walk over to the guys.

Jade: "We definitely have plenty of food for the rest of our trip through Delas."

Alyssa: "(drowsy) Food..."

Ruby: "I just hope that you don't say food for the rest of the journey."

Alyssa: "(drowsy) I'm not."

Jade: "We should get to the palace."

Ruby: "Yeah, her patience timer went to zero a long time ago."

Jay stands up.

Jay: "Then let's go."

The five walk towards the palace.

Jay: "Stand aside."

Guard: "How about you identify yourselves?!"

Jay whips out his nunchucks and knocks the guard out cold with his knee.

Jake: "(in head) Looks like he's sparing his life, at least he won't leave himself open."

The five traverse the more mazelike palace, knocking out guards at every possible turn.

Jade: "Guess these people don't have much Pride."

They come to the room with Pride.

Pride: "Why do you persist against my master Alcionus?"

Jade: "That bastard took everything from us for a plot to end Reith!"

Pride: "Upon my soldiers pride, your defeat will be quick."

Pride's hand begins to glow.

Ruby: "Pride is able to alter the form of objects at lightning speed."

A pillar appears to punch Ruby.

Jade: "Ruby!"

Another pillar tries to punch Jade.

Jade: "How about no!"

Jade builds up a massive amount of counter energy.

Jade: "Have a nice helping of a smash!"

Jade uses her axe to attempt to slash Pride.

Pride: "Do you honestly think that will work?"

Pride uses the floor to create a wall that reflects Jade's axe.

Alyssa: "How about you take on me?"

Pride: "(calmly) With pleasure."

Pride attacks Alyssa, but she dodges all blows.

Pride: "This is getting old."

Pride attacks Alyssa from all directions.

Alyssa: "Shit."

Alyssa falls asleep.

Pride: "Now you will be an issue."

Pride traps Jade in a box.

Jade: "(muffled) Hey!"

Pride: "Wait, where are the other two?!"

Jake: "Right here."

Jake socks Pride with a supercharged fire punch, sending him right to Jay's feet.

Jay: "How does it feel to have your attention completely taken up by a bunch of kids?"

Jay uses telekinesis to pin Pride's hands to the ground.

Jay: "Now for a safety shot."

Jay socks Pride right in the nuts.

Pride: "(bawling in pain) FUUUUCCCCK!!!"

Jake punches the box Jade is in.

Jake: "Even I could feel that."

Jay: "(sighing) At least it's better than you or Jade socking him."

Jade picks up Ruby and Alyssa.

Jade: "Just lock the queen in the dungeon or shoot her between the eyes."

Jay steps into the throne room and explains her options

Queen Derious: "Fine then, just know Delas will fall."

Jay: "We're saving it from you bastards."

Jay locks Derious in the dungeon and frees Pride.

Jay: "Let's get a move on."

Jade: "Sounds good to me."

They leave Pri.

Ruby: "Our sixth stop is Envious. The next gen of Envy is uncaptured too, so she'll be helpful."

Jake: "(I hope whoever this is isn't another Alyssa."
