Chapter 11: Sleeping on the Job

The 5 sneak pass every single guard on their way to the palace the next morning.

Ruby: "(whispering)) Nice and easy..."

Alyssa: "(yawning) I'm tired."

Alyssa falls asleep.

Jade: "(whispering) Not fucking now."

Jade carries Alyssa on her back.

Jade: "(whispering) This is gonna slow me down."

Jake, Jay, and Ruby get very far ahead from Jade and Alyssa.

Jake: "(whispering) Where's Jade and Alyssa? (in head) I hope she's okay."

Jay: "(whispering) Just keep going. We don't have time to turn back, Alyssa probably fell asleep and Jade is carrying her."

Ruby: "(whispering) I-I agree with Jay, just keep moving."

The three creep through the palace as silent as possible.

Ruby: "(whispering) Mine."

Ruby grabs a necklace with a jade set inside.

Jake: "(whispering) Are you stealing?"

Ruby jumps up a little.

Ruby: "(whispering) I embody greed, I've just held back my urges until now."

Jake notices a similar necklace with a ruby inside.

Jake: "(whispering) Alright, but you're responsible. (in head) I still have to remember what we're working with."

The 3 come to the room just outside the throne room.

Jay: "Finally done being sneaky."

They find a man sitting at the door.

Sloth: "(drowsy) I was hoping for five more minutes."

Ruby: "L-Let's go."

Jake: "(draws blade) Still doubting yourself?"

Sloth stares at all three of them

Jake: "(drops sword) I'm a going to take a nap. (in head) Fuck, fuck, fuck fuck!"

Jay: "(drowsy) I'll crash right here if you don't mind."

Ruby: "(drowsy) Me too."

All three pass out in the middle of the floor.

Sloth: "I thought that there was four... I'm going back to sleep."

Meanwhile...

Jade: "(whispering) Dammit why did you have to sleep now?!"

Alyssa: "Food..."

Jade: "(in head) Is she seriously dreaming about food?!"

The two creep down hallways at a slugs pace as Jade notices several statues are missing jewelry.

Jade: "(in head) We're on the right track."

The two come up to the room with Sloth.

Jade: "ARE YOU GUYS FUCKING ASLEEP???!!!"

Sloth wakes up.

Sloth: "(drowsy) There is the fourth one."

Jade: "WAKE THE FUCK UP GUYS!!!

Sloth stares at Jade.

Jade: "Aw fuck no!"

Jade closes her eyes.

Sloth: "(drowsy) Huh?"

Jade isn't falling asleep.

Jade: "The secret is to close your eyes, so I have to fight blind!"

Jade sets down Alyssa.

Alyssa: "Huh?"

Jade: "(in head) That's right, Alyssa is immune to Sloth."

Jade helps Alyssa up.

Jade: "Let's take down Sloth."

Alyssa: "Fine. My dad is a piece of shit anyway."

Alyssa taunts Sloth.

Sloth: "You brat."

Sloth stands up and tries to slug Alyssa, but she keeps dodging the fists.

Alyssa: "What's the matter, can't hit me?"

Sloth is trying his best to smash Alyssa to the ground, but Jade sees her plan immediately.

Jade: "Perfect."

Jade charges counter energy from falling debris from Sloth's missed punches.

Alyssa: "I can take a nap and you still can't hit me."

Sloth unleashes a massive punch, sending a huge chunk of the ceiling for Jade.

Jade: "Thanks for the ammo."

Jade unleashes her built up energy and smashes Sloth through the doors and into King Naelim.

King Naelim: "Huh?"

Jay awakes first.

Jay: "Whoa!"

Alyssa falls back asleep.

Jay: "(sighing) I wouldn't expect less."

King Naelim: "Don't come closer!"

Jay pulls out his gun, but doesn't pull the trigger

Jay: "(shaking) Your life is on the line, I suggest you throw yourself into the dungeon before I pull the trigger.

King Naelim debates upon his options.

King Naelim: "Very well."

King Naelim walks to the dungeon with Jay pointing his gun at his head.

King Naelim: "Just know Alcionus is after Ayleaus."

Jay locks the cell.

Jay: "I already know."

Jake and Ruby awaken by the time Jay gets back.

Jay: "The king is having the time of his life in prison, we can set off for the fifth town."

Jake: "(in head) He didn't kill? For once I think that's bad."

Jay: "Stop thinking and go."

Ruby gives Jade the ruby necklace.

Jade: "Alright, I know that you will hold on to it anyway."

Jade puts on the necklace.

Ruby: "I even have one with a jade in it."

Jake: "Guess that means you two have the opposite gem of your name."

Jade: "Enough wasting time, we need to get to Pri."

Jay: "I'll take a wild guess and say that's Pride."

Ruby: "Yeah."

Alyssa wakes up.

Alyssa: "We're going already?"

Jade: "Just get up and walk."

Alyssa: "Fine."
