Chapter 9: Shattered

The 4 move as fast as possible to Loth until nightfall.

Jake: "Aw god that hurts."

Jake stumbles a bit.

Jake: "(in pain) Fuck my leg hurts."

Ruby: "I think we should set up camp here."

Jade sets down Jay.

Jade: "Thank god, my back hurts like a bitch!"

The twins set up camp as Jake handles food.

Ruby: "I-I think we're wrapping up."

Jade turns her head toward Ruby.

Jade: "Are you nervous about something?"

Ruby turns to Jay.

Ruby: "I-I think that we should give up."

Jake overhears.

Jake: "Why? We all know here that we are reaching the mid point."

Ruby: "Look what happened to Jay! He was crippled with a single glare! We are out of our league!"

Jade: "Calm down. The sins of his past did this."

Jake: "That is why I will not use my blade for bounties."

Jay begins to stir.

Jay: "Where the hell am I?"

Ruby: "In the middle of the desert."

Jay sits up only to have abdominal pain, halting progress.

Jake: "Guess your sore as fuck."

Jay lies back down.

Jay: "The voices..."

Jade smacks Jay across the face.

Jay: "Hey!"

Jade: "Just snap out of it, we still have 5 rulers to take care of!"

Jay: "Y-You're right."

Jake: "Enough pep talks, I just finished food."

The 4 eat until they pass out when Jake takes care of Jay's chest. Until Jay wakes up and stares off at the pure blue night sky.

Jay: "(in head) Those voices, they were every last soul I killed..."

Jay smacks himself.

Jay: "I've got to keep my cool."

Jay looks at his passed out allies.

Jay: "I decided to help that hero wannabe Jake Ayleaus save Reith, I can't get the voices get too deep."

Jay lies back down.

Jay: "I have to."

The 4 wake up early.

Jake: "Now let's get going."

Twins: "(yawning) You heard him."

Jay: "Just help me pack up tents and shut the fuck up."

Jade: "There's the Jay I know and want to punch."

Jay: "Just help me or you handle it alone. We've got time."

Ruby: "Looks like he has his head back."

Jay uses telekinesis to hold his dagger at Ruby's neck.

Jay: "I don't need comments."

Jake: "Everyone focus, Jay went through hell yesterday, he's on edge. (in head) I just hope he doesn't start second guessing himself."

Jay: "Thanks."

Jake: "I want to save Reith guys, can't have allies fucking around."

The 4 pack everything and set off.

Jade: "The next gen of Sloth is still uncaptured, we can get her help!"

Jake: "Guess we know our priorities."

Jay: "(tensely) Don't make me."

Jade: "I'll zip it, cool your jets."

Jay: "(loosens up) Alright."
