You never expected to happen on the first day. You are a stubborn type, but you sucked it up just as Grillby told you too beforehand knowing that he hated this also."It's time to take your medicine," the male nurse said handing you a couple of pills you see in his palm.
Taking meds, mainly in pills for they are the most common form given to you making liquids in needles second. You obediently took them and opened your mouth when they asked to be sure the pills are taken correctly like the last hospital you were in. The countdown is already starting in your brain 20 days to go. Thankfully most of your time was taken from the papers and settling in your room. Making most of the contacts with the other strangers reduced to stares at the new patient.
A doctor interviewed you at a table in the main room for patients to hang out over any symptoms or problems you have. You remain vague enough not to get nagged at for clear answers. The doctor left leaving you sitting gaze around aimlessly on your seat until a boy followed along with a girl came to accompany you breaking your lonesome. Greeting you as you greeted back.
They sat in front of you. Then questions were suddenly asked about that strange person who was with you. Unsure how to respond to them someone butted in to answer that for you.
"Strange person? That's a monster duh."
The voice has a soft blend of Eastern American mix with the firm, strict tone coming out from the dark haired girl who apparently has her hair dye thanks to her natural lighter hair growing back.
"Monster? Yes, a monster but what type? Is it a wisp, or ghost of some sort?" The same person who asked is filled with curiosity in his eyes. He is tall, taller than Grillby to be exact with the classic red and black combo for those with an edge. He also wore a long sleeved shirt which cannot blame him the hospital is a little cold.
"A ghost? Seriously? That's what we called them. Things like them are called monster kind same to us calling ourselves humankind." The dark brunette girl rolled her eyes at him consider his questions as signs of stupidity.
"What? It's not my fault for not knowing. My stay here is waaaay longer than yours. You have better access to outside info than I do." The tall boy is putting his defense up not enjoying being looked down upon.
"How late can you be? The staff and doctors were gossiping about them for months unsure how to handle them."
The edgy hair boy raises his hands up. "Look, you know I'm not the type to listen in on other people's conversations."
"Well, you just have to learn to do so." She remarked.
"Hey, the newbie doesn't know either."
"Don't bring them up just because they are new."
"Look don't even start that. This conversation started by me asking a question that they don't know the answer." You spot out that his neck is faintly red thanks to the anger that is rising.
"That because you're pestering them. And start what?" Her tone at the end was mocking.
"Never mind. Hey, how's your first day going?" He changes the subject to prevent any upcoming problems if he were to lose his cool.
She, however, has not let it go so smoothly. "I'm not finished talking to you don't you ignore me. And quit bothering them dumb ass!"
Instead of him snapping at her he whispered calmly to her, but it was strained of anger and concern. "Please calm down I don't want you to get in trouble."
He quickly turns back to you giving you an apologetic stare for her behavior. "I'm sorry, how is your day?"
As nice as this guy is to you. You felt uncomfortable with the tense aura from the girl, but the interactions clearly show that these two known each other before or have enough time to get to know one another instead.
You answered hoping it will lessen the negative energy, "Scared because going to stay at a hospital."
"It happens, I can't blame you cause many believed that a place for the mental means all of us are psychopaths."
"They're not much of a talker, Dawn." She speaks again.
You didn't bother to stop her nor to the boy whose name is Dawn.
"Olly, what happens?"
"Nothing happened."
"Ok, you're angry about something. Do you need some alone time?"
"You sound like the doctors and nurses."
"I don't know what to say at least said what you want."
You shifted uncomfortably at the two losing their temper, and that's when a nurse supervising you three from afar walked in between the two warns them about the room." They both went dead silent as the nurse walk back to where they initially stationed before.
Olly crossed her arms to keep her composure from snapping a word or two at the worker.
You looked down preventing eye contact to be made with the two. It was about to get awkward from the lack of exchange words until Dawn starts up a new conversation.
"Sooo about you and that fire dude."
"Grillby." You quickly stated.
"Right, Grillby," He repeated the name before he continues. "You and Grillby seem to be close. If I'm correct then what is he like?"
"You're curious?" You questioned.
"Well, yeah. He is the first monster I have to seem in my entire life now. Of course, I am. I want to know what monsters are like."
He surprisingly has the patience to wait. Giving you time to think your thoughts through just like Grillby.
"He was mean at times, but very nice. You reminded me of him."
His face was in disbelief by your last statement. "What? Me? He is literally on fire, made out of actual fire while I am just flesh and bones. How do I remind you of him."
"You're patience. Like him. The relationship between him and me are somewhat similar to how you and Olly interacted."
Her stare remains fixated on to you as if she is examining you questioning your reasons to be here.
"Well, you know our names. We have to give the full name." She sits up straight from the slouch back position she was in earlier.
"I am Olly Agate, and this is Dawn Woodworth." Her gestures present herself and Dawn were inviting enough to be comfortable around.
You gave them your name. It was fined for everyone. You answered every question the two may have and explain. You talked about the monsters you're living with as they spoke and complained about their relatives or friends.
"I'm surprised that they acted so human just like us," Dawn said amused.
"I'm not." Olly bluntly said.
"Why?"
"Because I'm friends with one."
"When?!"
"I just talked about her before a while ago."
"Yeah, but I didn't expect that person to be a monster. I thought she was a strange funky looking human."
You felt like this will be a long time upon you go back home with the Grillby and the others soon. You are already tired talking to strangers for today. Also not looking forward to taking pill at every meal for the entire stay.
