February 10th 1967
She walked so fast that she got to the bakery within twenty minutes, which was a new record. Amelia busted the door open, almost knocking it off its hinges, and instantly made Shelia jump around.
"Amelia!! I never knew you were coming in today?" She gasped and embraced her over the counter.
"Oh I know I do apologise, but there's something I must tell you about" she said whispering over to her. She nodded and gestured to follow her to the back room.
"Now, the last time you we did this you informed me about the break up so I hope it's a little more positive this time" she smiled undoing her apron.
"Well, I've been thinking about opening the blind again" she said and Shelia couldn't help but feel shocked.
Amelia had told her countless times over the months about the whole "window" situation allowing her to know everything about it. Even though they didn't meet as frequently, they still made time to talk to each other.
"But why? I mean I want you to do it one hundred percent but... what's changed in you?" She asked looking her in the eyes deeply.
"Honestly, even I'm not completely certain. But this morning he arrived in a different car" she informed her.
"And how did you know that if you haven't opened the blind or even seen him for nearly..." she began to count on her fingers "six months?".
"By the sound of the engine obviously" she chuckled "but that's not the point, he clearly did this on purpose".
Shelia shrugged and shook her head oblivious to the answer.
Amelia sighed "to get me to question".
"Ahh! Now we're getting somewhere" she said causing the pair to laugh "so Paul gets a new car... to get you to question... and then try to win you back?" She suggested.
She opened her mouth to protest but suddenly realised she was correct. All these speculations and thoughts had caused her to think about him more than ever. This has given her the chance for her feelings about him to catch up with her. And it was clear.
She missed him and there was nothing she could do about it, she had become attached.
"You're right, but what should I do? What if I'm completely wrong!" Amelia said rubbing her forehead.
"Open the bloody blind that's what you should do!" She said almost shouting "besides, when have you ever been wrong?"
She then flew back to tour but then forced herself back into the present.
"Ok" she said making her decision "I'm going to do it, I'm going to open that blind and not fear that there is about a eighty percent chance I could see him today".
Amelia profoundly made her decision before leaving the bakery, accompanied by her trustee pasty, but started to reconsider her choices. She thought, may be I'm completely incorrect and that my mind was just tricking me? She walked back to her office noticing that Paul would still be in the studio at this point in time but their break was five minutes after hers. Amelia waited staring at the blind cord once again and didn't take her eyes off of it. A small collection of dust started to form around the edges which nearly brought tears to her eyes.
It was as if the window represented their relationship, just left alone.
The clock shifted to 2:00 and she knew the band would out on time as she would usually hear them talking, but never Paul's voice. Perhaps she had blocked him out completely without realising and couldn't recognise his voice anymore. This thought urged her to push forward.
With an outstretched arm she grabbed the cord, took a deep breath and started to open the blind. The adrenaline that was racing through her made her palms sweat vigorously causing her to loose her grip every now and then.
But before she knew it the blind was open and was beyond shocked when she saw what was in front of her.
