February 28th 1968
It was far into the night. Paul and Amelia were still conversing with guests whilst eating cake, dancing and drinking the evening away. Everyone was enjoying themselves and drifted their way into the early hours of the morning. Amelia soon realised that she hadn't spent that much time with Paul that day really - even though they had just married. They had both spent so much time talking to others that they hadn't had a chance to digest the day yet.
Amelia was stood outside the venue in the garden area taking in the scene and slightly staring off into space. Various people were smoking and drinking glasses of wine under the stars together. The was a fire pit too and numerous amounts of candles were dotted around the place.
"Hello, love" Paul said gliding up beside her, holding two glasses of fresh champagne.
She took them as he gave her a light kiss on her cheek, "Hello, dear".
"You alright?" he asked looking at her, "I feel as though I haven't really spoken to you much today".
"I was thinking the same really, funny isn't it?" she said smiling at him.
They stood taking sips of their drinks every so often.
"The house is completely ready for us now, right?" she asked looking towards to him.
"Yes it is. Why'd you ask?" he questioned in return.
Amelia thought for a moment before speaking.
"Well, this might seem absurd but-" she started, "Would it be awfully rude, and somewhat mad, if we were to just secretly drive off to our new home right this very moment?".
Paul looked at her and raised his eyebrows as a smile grew large on his face. She smirked in return before giggling a little giddily.
"I mean, it would be awfully rude and somewhat mad" he said, "But it would also be rather fun".
Her smile grew and Paul leaned in towards her ear, "I'd also love nothing more than just to flop down onto our new bed and slowly drift off to sleep right now".
It sounded so inviting to her and Paul knew she wanted to do the same.
"It wouldn't be entirely rude though" she said still apprehensive, "After all, it is our wedding".
Paul smiled again, "You're right. Lets get out of here!" he whispered excitedly.
Dramatically, the pair downed the last of their champagne before Paul took Amelia's soft hand in his and sprinted out of the venue. Soon, they jumped into a cab that was parked outside for them and they rushed away secretly without anyone realising that they had left. The pair felt exhilarated the whole time and couldn't care less about what everyone else would be thinking. Besides, the majority had either gone home or were too intoxicated to realise at this moment in time.
The thrill lasted for the entirety of the car journey, which seemed to take a lifetime, but soon they arrived at their new home; a grand, old country house just outside London with acres of land and many many rooms. All their things had been taken there over the past few weeks so they had no worries about having their belongings out of place. Their new furniture complimented the place and a few of Amelia's photographs had been published in large sizes to hang upon the wall on display. The house seemed cosy and warm, despite its size.
Paul wrapped his arms tightly around her waits and spun her round to face him. He planted a kiss on her lips which blossomed into a more passionate one. Their love for one another exceeded the heights of the ceiling and overflowed.
"You're the love of my life, Mrs McCartney" Paul said once they finished.
They kissed again and whilst doing so they made their way upstairs. They had to pause in order to not hit any fragile objects or injure themselves, but eventually made it to their bedroom. It was pristine with fresh white linen and a soft carpet. Their room also featured a large balcony that looked over their beautiful garden. Amelia and Paul flopped down onto the bed, just like Paul had desired earlier and they wrapped themselves in each others arms. Not caring that they were still fully dressed in their wedding attire.
"What time is it?" Amelia asked facing him, but still embraced closely.
"About two o'clock" he informed her, double checking his watch .
"It's been such a good day, Paul. Everyone was so kind and lovely to us" she said reminiscing on the day they just had.
"I know. I was shocked at John's speech, it was incredible" he said.
"Wasn't it just! I don't think there was a dry eye to be seen after that" she said.
"Are we still going to Cornwall for our honey moon then?" Paul said.
"Of course, dear" she replied, "I can't wait to get away. But not for too long"
"Yeah you're right. We need to enjoy this place at some point" he said and she hummed in agreement.
Still cuddled up with him, she looked down at her hand and gazed at the ring she was now wearing. Carefully she removed it and re-read the writing inside.
"This is simply the best thing I have ever seen" she said still looking at it.
Paul smiled, "I knew you'd love it. Took me ages to get my handwriting to look half decent though".
Amelia laughed at his comment, "It's just so beautiful. And that is one of my favourites of yours"
"I know, Lia" he said and gave her a gentle kiss on her forehead.
She smiled, "I can't believe we're actually married".
"It is rather odd," he replied "But I reckon nothing will change".
"Do you think so?" she asked curiously.
"I feel like we've been married for years" he said rubbing her arm softly.
They remained entangled on the bed just resting in each others presence. Amelia soon began to grow tired and so did Paul.
"Shall we go to sleep now, love?" he suggested sitting up gently.
"I suppose," she said softly "But there is something we could do before that.
Amelia slowly removed herself out of Paul's arms and sat up to face him. She smirked a little and carefully began to trace the lining of his shirt. Paul quickly caught on to the idea she had and smirked at her in return. Her smirk turned into a grin and soon into a snigger before the pair undressed and clambered under the sheets.
