November 14th 1967

Amelia and Paul had returned back to their normal in no time. They continued to spend their days back and forth at each others places. Amelia didn't mind this, but Paul was becoming increasingly impatient with it. He longed for a place of their own and for both of them to share. Time was pressing on him, but he wanted to make sure the engagement was perfect.

"What are your plans for today, Lia" Paul asked, playfully rolling over to face her in bed.

Amelia put down her newspaper to the side as she thought about the errands she needed to complete.

"Well, we are lacking in food in this place so I think I'll head to the supermarket today" she said.

"Ok" he said gazing at her, knowing that this would be the perfect opportunity to arrange everything.

She met is eyes and then pulled a slightly baffled expression, "Why are looking at me like that?"

"No reason," he said smiling "I just love looking at your face".

She grinned and lent down to place a light kiss on his lips.

"Right, I better get on with today then" she said swiftly departing from the bedroom and preparing for the day ahead.

"Have fun, dear" Paul called from the bedroom as she reached the front door.

"I will" she hollered and eventually left for the supermarket.

Paul sprung into action as soon as he saw her car leave the street. He got dressed and sprinted to the phone.

"Hello, Sheila speaking"

"It's time" Paul said simply.

"Perfect, I'll meet you there shortly" Sheila replied.

They both arrived at their secret location within walking distance of Amelia's home. It was the very same location that they spent their special moment in the rain one day. Paul felt it was appropriate and held a large amount of memories. They had help from some of their mutual friends to assemble to romantic scenery with candles and cream cloths draped over some trellis. A bandstand stood in the centre surrounded by arrays of foliage. Needless to say - it was magical.

"How long do you think she will be?" Sheila asked over viewing the scene.

Paul checked his watch, "I reckon, half an hour".

"Ok, perfect" she replied.

"I should go prepare the house now" he told her and she agreed.

He wanted to lead her to the secret area so he left some clues on little pieces of paper around the house. He then decided on what he was going to wear. He knew that her favourite outfit of his was his classic white dinner shirt with a long black tie and tight suit trousers. The temperature outside was cold, but he had presumed this and purchased a new tweed blazer the previous week. He spritzed himself with his usual scent and took the ring from the cabinet. He looked at it one last time, knowing the next time it was on display would be on her finger - or so he hoped. He checked the time again and realised it was moving faster than he had anticipated, so he made his way downstairs and out the door to the engagement location.

Around mid day Amelia arrived home.

She sighed heavily as she lugged the shopping bags into the kitchen, "You will not believe the queue today".

She expected a response, but couldn't hear a sound. She looked around quickly, but sensed something was off. This threw her slightly.

"Paul?" she called out, but there was no reply.

She started to become concerned and searched around the house for him. She went into the bathroom and suddenly she stopped in her tracks. She found the first note that Paul had laid out for her. It hung on the bathroom mirror right in front of her eyes. Amelia took the note in her hands,

"Hidden in here was something special, yet you never saw. It is hard to keep things hidden from you, but now the object has gone.
But only briefly, as you will see.
For what I have, can be found in three"

Confused was an understatment, but she was prepared to decode the riddle.

"Found in three" she said to herself.

She then put herself into the lyrical style of Paul and that's when she cracked the first clue. She laughed to herself as she embarked on the journey he had set out for her. She soon realised that he was talking about three riddles and then the object would be found. Amelia didn't have any idea what the object was at this point.

She made her way downstairs searching for the next clue. Something felt familiar as she moved from the bathroom and down the stairs. She thought carefully about this and realised that she was completing her morning routine. She was a very rhythmic person, both musically and with everyday life. So the next place she checked was the kitchen. And there it was, the next piece of paper sat on top of kettle. Again, she read the next note,

"I supposed you have sussed, that this is your routine. But what will happen today, may be better than caffeine. The next note you'll find, will be the last. For finally you will have complete this task"

She smiled and pondered on what the task could be.

What was the end goal? Why was he going to this length to surprise her?

The only other part of her routine she could think of was her eventually leaving the house. So she turned back to the front and there was another note, stuck to the inside of the door. She took a breath and prepared for the final instruction,

"Although you think, this is now the end. It is just the start, of the story we've penned. I want you to go, to a special place. Where we spent a day, with the rain on our face.

There's nothing more, and nothing less. Than the love I have for you, that I must profess."

Amelia's eyes immediately widened. She re-read the note at least a dozen times desperately trying to make sense of what Paul was telling her. Then it hit her.

"It can't be" she breathed almost with no sound.

She read it again and her mind flew back to the day they spent in the rain. Entirely infatuated with him. So much so, that the torrential rain didn't even faze her. It was probably her most cherished moment, and fell in love with it even more just knowing that Paul realised that. She never spoke about it, but Paul knew in his heart that she would remember the memory forever. There was no time to lose. She quickly put her coat back on and sprinted to the park where that moment took place. Excited was an inadequate word for how she was feeling.

"She's coming!" Sheila said as she spotted Amelia running towards the parks entrance.

She hid far away from them, granting them some privacy.

Paul's nerves began to rise. Once she reached the entrance of the park, she paused in her tracks as her eyes fell upon the angelic scene that laid before her.
