July 11th 1967

Paul woke up slowly the next morning and rolled over expecting Amelia to be there to curl up to, but all that laid next to him was the sheet. He turned back over and searched the room, whilst remaining in the warmth of the bed.

"Lia" he called out as he propped himself up on his elbows.

A few seconds passed when Amelia finally appeared from the doorway wearing nothing but Paul's silk gown and a warm morning smile. She was holding a tray with a mug, some poached eggs and toast. Paul's eyes beamed with delight at the sight, both at the breakfast and Amelia.

"Thought I'd make you something lovely as I woke up before you" She said brightly, sitting down beside him "and because you're lovely too".

Paul's smile grew greater.

"Thank you" he said softly and placing a kiss on her lips.

Paul sat enjoying his breakfast whilst Amelia read her book. The rain was rattling violently onto the windows and captivated Amelia's attention. Today was ideal for just lazing around all day and achieving absolutely nothing. As soon as Paul finished the delicious breakfast, the telephone rang.

"Good morning" Paul answered as Amelia listened.

"It's for you my dear" he said passing it over.

Amelia looked confused, "Hello,  Amelia speaking"

The pair waited in anticipation.

"Oh ok... well that's a shame... will everything be sorted tomorrow?... ok... yes... brilliant... well thank you for calling, goodbye now" she said.

"What was that about?" Paul questioned.

Amelia paused for a minute or two then a smirk grew on her face. She flew off her reading glasses and threw her book onto the bedside table without a care.

"Hello? Lia what on earth are you doing!" He questioned a second time laughing slightly.

She raised herself to her feet and began to jump on the bed with the essence of a five year-old. After a quick session of bouncing, she stopped and sat on Pauls lap.

"See the rain outside?" She exclaimed pointing at the window "That has caused the top floor offices to flood at work".

"Uh-huh" Paul nodded still somewhat confused.

"Which means that everyone has been signed off for the day so that they can repair the leak!" Amelia said excitedly and returned to her bouncing.

Paul laughed at her pure sense of joy and watched in awe. He then decided to join her with the jumping and bounced in sync with her. The laughed and smiled as they moved around on the bed until the pair needed to catch their breath. They laid down beside one another with their chests rising and falling.

"What are we going to do then?" Paul asked turning his head to face her.

"Absolutely nothing" she replied turning to him.

Paul smiled and so did she, feeling pleasantly content. He moved an inch and their soft noses touched. They continued to caress each other when they finally moved just that inch closer and kissed. It was lovely kiss, one that was sweet and without a care.

"I love you" she smiled once they finished.

They kissed again, long and hard. With such passion that neither of the pair wanted it to end.

"I love you too" he replied once they finished.

He kissed her nose and she laughed.

"We should probably do something semi-productive at some point" Paul said.

"Yes. You're right, dear" Amelia replied finally sitting up.

She took Paul's hand to encourage him out of bed but still refused to move. She yanked on his arm, almost tearing it off, in an attempt to drag him out.

"Come on Paulie!" She laughed now trying her best to move him.

He still refused to remove himself from the bed.

"Fine!" She said dropping his arm and walking away from the bed.

"No! Wait!!" He said desperate to be with her as he sprung from the bed to catch her up.

He grabbed her by the waist and carried her to the kitchen as she protested. She wriggled in his arms until he finally placed her back down to Earth.

"Let's bake!" She exclaimed excitedly.

"Do we have what we need?" Paul asked as he began to rummage through the cupboards.

"Well I suppose it depends on what we actually want to make" she said.

Paul thought for a moment and began removing various ingredients from the cupboards.

"Looks like a lot of work!" Amelia said as she gazed upon the large amount of cooking items.

"Can you guess what we're making?" He asked, smirking slightly.

Amelia peered around to get a proper look at each element, "carrot cake?" She said.

"Well done, dearest" he smiled.

Amelia clapped to herself, excited about the cake they were about to bake. She grabbed an apron and threw one at Paul.

"Really?" He sighed as he picked up the most lacy and pink apron to be seen.

Amelia giggled and pushed for him to wear it to which he eventually gave in. That was the trouble of being in love. You give into doing silly things because you know it'll make them happy. Paul caught glimpse of himself on the glass oven door and chuckled.

"Right, let's get on with it then" he stated.
